About a year ago, I was driving through Birmingham Alabama and the snow began to fall all around me. Everyone across the country knows that it hardly ever snow in Birmingham. hat looked like just an ordinary city turned into a beautiful landscape as far as the eye could see. As everything began to turn white I was amazed at how quickly the atmosphere changed. There was so much beauty and a feeling of peace and tranquility began to fall over me. However, it was not long before people started crashing their cars. What was a beautiful, tranquil setting quickly turned into a city with wrecks, cars in ditches and people slipping, sliding. I am thankful I made it home without incident. Once again, as I settled into my home, I could enjoy the peace and beauty that surrounded me. Even though there were so many accidents, I could still see the beauty as the darkness began to fall.

You will need to have patience. As a native New Yorker, I am still not yet used to the long pause that drivers in Birmingham take between the light turning green and them actually putting their cars in drive. I fight the urge to honk at them each time. Over the years I have grown more patient but it

My favorite memory from driving in this city is driving to the lake. The lake is just outside of the city limits and I love the drive. I especially love driving there at summer's end when the leaves begin to change color. I drive through the congestion of the interstate and the city center, and the

Highway 119 meanders through Indian Springs, and I drive it every day to my teaching job at OLV School. I love this road. The houses are all set back from the road.
