Kansas City, KS Driving Tips
I would advise to stay away from downtown, especially during rush hour. It seems the highway network and buildings were built at the same time with no room for addition of lanes as the city grew, so it can be quite congested and stressful if you get caught there during a busy time.
Kansas City, KS Buying Tips
I always enjoyed going down I-35 to the Olathe area. It's a little further south of the main part of the city, but there's a large area of dealerships down there that seem to provide you more room to look around and you don't feel cramped while doing so.
Favorite driving memory
I would say my favorite memory of driving in and around the Kansas City area was the day my first son was born. It was an early Saturday morning, with perfect beautiful weather outside, and little did I know that 12 hours later I would be a father. How did driving fit into the equation? Well, normally the drive to the hospital and that part of town would be gridlock, or at the very least stressful, but the arrival of our little bundle came at the perfect hour and it was a peaceful calm drive all the way there.
Favorite road
Shawnee Mission Parkway. I love this stretch of road because it is just a peaceful drive, and it always draws my memories back to the many dates I went on with my wife at the park and also at the theatre in the park. It is a well maintained road as well.

Kansas City, KS Driving Tips
I would suggest getting a GPS. It's easy to get lost if you don't know where you are going and you don't want to end up in a bad part of town.
Kansas City, KS Buying Tips
When buying a car you want a car with good MPG for the highway because everything is spread out and you'll need to do a lot of highway driving. To find a bunch of dealers, you can go near the airport. There's a good number of dealers there so you have a lot of different choices. I have never used AutoList king or craigslist, but I recommend not using those and just going to the dealers and checking out cars. There's so many dealers around so you have a wide variety.
Favorite driving memory
My favorite memory of driving in this city is probably driving at night through the city with all the lights from all the buildings lighting up the city. With the windows down in the spring and the radio up, there's nothing better.
Favorite road
I-435. I-435 loops around the entire city on both the Missouri side and the Kansas side it's just a great area to drive because you go through the entire city. There's a lot of scenery and it's really pretty.
