Port St. Lucie, FL Driving Tips
As a previous visitor to this city, I have taken the traffic for what it was at the time. Usually I would visit during the winter months to both see my parents and to escape the brutal cold of the north. Now, being a full time resident - I can fully appreciate why my parents were always so happy when the snowbirds went back north. Traffic increased dramatically from November until the end of March. The main highway - Route 1 can become very congested at times. There is a shortcut to the island beaches - Goldenrod Road through Jensen Beach. It will get you over to the island and beaches much faster and with less traffic headaches.
Port St. Lucie, FL Buying Tips
After having moved here recently, I found myself looking to buy a new vehicle. My vehicle had almost 300,000 miles on it and it was time for a replacement. Route 1 North, going towards Fort Pierce has tons of new and used car dealers. I have had good dealings with Deeco's. They seem to have very nice vehicles and are honest. They do not gouge the customer. As I wanted a slightly used car at a reasonable price - I relied heavily on Craigslist.
Favorite driving memory
I have been visiting this area for many years as my parents live nearby. I have recently purchased a home. My highlight was driving here with my vehicle stuffed to the doors and having the knowledge that I was moving here permanently.
Favorite road
Indian River Drive.. Indian River Drive is quite scenic to drive on. Not too much traffic, depending on the time of day. There is a wide variety of homes along this road. Some are very modest, while others are very upscale. The road runs along the Indian River and it has a wonderful view of both the Indian River and Hutchinson Island in the distance. Sunsets along Indian River can be spectacular.

Port St. Lucie, FL Driving Tips
Avoid rush hour if you can. Many people that live in this city work in different cities so all of the roads and streets get congested. If you cannot avoid driving at that time then you must learn to not be aggressive it will just get your blood pressure up and put you in a foul mood. The stop lights for the most part are synchronized so that helps a tremendous amount.
Port St. Lucie, FL Buying Tips
If you are looking for a new or used car the place to go is on US Highway 1. There are many places on North US 1 that have new and used car dealerships for the majority of the brand names of vehicles. Some of these are considered Fort Pierce but it all just runs into each other. Going South on US 1 out of Port St. Lucie there are many dealerships in Stuart that offer great deals on all new and used vehicles as well. You can always check craigslist and AutoList but you will find the same if not similar at the dealerships for the same money and you have someone to go to if there are any problems.
Favorite driving memory
Around Christmas time my family loves going out to eat and then driving around looking at Christmas lights. Port St. Lucie has some amazing displays. It always makes for a wonderful, oh and ah as well as a love filled night. We like to drive around when it a little later and the traffic is not so bad-that certainly makes it a totally stress filled evening.
Favorite road
I-95. As long as it is not rush hour it is not very busy. There is shopping, entertainment, gas stations, restaurants, banks, doctors offices and plenty of places of employment just off most of the Port St. Lucie exits. The exits are clearly marked and have stop lights in the right places so you can get on and off easily as well as into the businesses located off of the exits.
