2008 Chevrolet Impala - 2008 Chevrolet Impala.
Overall the car has performed well and I have gotten over 180,000 miles on it so far. It is very reliable starting in the Minnesota winters. It provides a smooth ride for the mostly city driving I used it for. In earlier years, it was very comfortable on long trips. The seating is comfortable for a large person and can fit 5 people comfortably. Most of the normal maintenance can be handled by an individual without good mechanic knowledge or heavy tools such as battery replacement, front light replacement, tires and a few of the belts. The car has never shown any leaks or other equipment problems other than just normal wearing out. On a negative note, the rear lights, especially the reverse lights, require a major process to change. You have to remove and entire back plate to get to the... (more)
Story
On the coldest day of the year last year, it was the only one of our three vehicles that actually started right away even though it had the oldest battery. It proved to be very useful and reliable in all weather.
Pros
It gets decent gas mileage, almost 21 miles per gallon. The engine has been very reliable with no major transmission or other engine failures since we have owned it. It is comfortable to ride in for the city and on longer trips. It has nice maneuverability and good acceleration.
Cons
Car is subject to some sensor problems in giving false indicator lights. Also the car tends to fall out of alignment fairly easy even though there is nothing wrong with the frame or other issue that can be identified by the mechanics. Some of the routine maintenance issues which should be allowed to be handled by a competent owner are virtually impossible given the way the car is setup.
2006 Chevrolet Impala - Great sedan.
I love this car, I was nervous at first because I have heard negative reviews for the never (2005-13) style Chevrolet Impala. I am a prior Impala owner, I have owned three other impalas, a 2001 impala with the 3.4 engine, this one had some issues with the electrical systems, a 2004 with the 3.4 engine, this one had a head gasket and transmission replacement. and finally I had a 2002 impala with the 3.8 motor, which I had heard was the best motor out there, so it was very coveted. But it also had some issues. I have almost had no issues with my newer 2006 model. this one has the 3.5 engine in it, and it seems to me to have just the right amount of get up and go, while still allowing for 26 mpg. I have only had this car for about a year, but I drive quite a bit for my commute and living ... (more)
Story
I bought a queen sized bed frame off Craigslist and it fit (taken apart) in the trunk with the seats folded down. I always joke that it's my mini truck.
Pros
Remote start!
Cons
This isn't really a con, but it brakes so easily I am not used to it.
