It is a cute little truck, and though it drives like a golf cart, it's still pretty zippy. It won't go from 0-60 very fast, but then again, why would you need to? It's so small that you can load the entire bed up with firewood and not notice a drop in performance. The Isuzu engine in it is solid and easy to work on. When it breaks down, it's easy to fix yourself--no complicated computers or scan codes. Overall, it's pretty reliable, and when it's not, as I said, you can pretty much fix it yourself on the side of the road if needed.
Story
When I first bought the truck, it didn't run, and I rebuilt the carburetor thinking that would fix it. Well, it didn't, but my friend and I kept trying to drive it even though it ran like it was on two cylinders. Eventually we couldn't even make it up a very small incline on a street, and my friend had to hop out and push the car while cars were all honking behind us.
Pros
The best part about the Chevy truck is actually the Isuzu 4-cylinder engine. Well designed, and mine has been running since 1980. When the head gasket blew, I was still able to replace it and in fact rebuild the entire cylinder head with minimal problems. Simple to work on. All mechanical parts and no computers. Parts are cheap when it does break down.
Cons
I wish the truck was a little more customizable, like the older Toyotas. Not a lot of parts interchange, and unless you do a complete suspension swap, you can't lift the suspension and put bigger tires on. It also does seem to break down at the most inconvenient times. The interior hasn't really held up that well, and the bench seat needs to be reupholstered, and the headliner is ripping off.

I purchased my 2001 Chevy S10 last year and have absolutely loved this little truck. It is a base model truck that's worth every penny. The interior is great. The floor material is made out of a high quality rubber and has withstood a great amount of abuse. Usually in cars I have owned in the past the area under my left foot wears through and leaves the metal floor panel exposed but this has held up. Chevy did a great job on the rest of the interior as well. Even after 200,000 miles, the seats are still in great condition and show no signs of wear and tear. The 2.2 Liter 4 cylinder in this little truck is bullet proof. I live in an area that gets a lot of snow so the undercarriage is exposed to a lot of salt throughout the winters, and after being on the road for almost 15 years still ... (more)
Story
my friend and I love to drive to new places and find new things this little truck got us on some very fun lite trails and had no issues
Pros
-Good gas mileage -Comfortable interior -Plenty of head room -Reliable engine -Sturdy building materials -Well made interior -Easy to work on
Cons
-Rear drum brakes -Door sensors fail sometimes
