2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - 2012 Silverado: Solid yet simple
I bought my 2012 Chevrolet Silverado because I am a woodworker, and I need a solid truck without any frills. Because I have two dogs who travel with me often, I opted for the extended cab, which has proven to be a great decision. The truck is solid, drives well, has ice cold a/c, and hasn't given me a single problem at over 100,000 miles. The truck bed easily fits 4'x8' sheets of plywood and anything else I might need to throw back there. Because I view this truck as my "work car," I opted for a simple package: there are not power locks or windows, and there is not an aux cord or even a CD player. Although this can be inconvenient at times, I appreciate the simplicity and find that it's just fewer things to possibly go wrong, as I intend to drive this car indefinitely. The price was co... Story
I once drove out to swim in the Colorado River with two of my close friends, my two dogs, and one of my friend's dog. My front seat is a bench so we sat three-wide in the front, and the dogs all sat in the back. The dogs were so excited on the drive out and then swam all day together. Pros
Design, reliability, price
Cons
MPG, no aux/CD, manual locks/windows
2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - Reliability is top notch!
I have had this vehicle for over 12 years. It has been extremely reliable. Being an extended cab, it has easily carried my family, work clients and more tools than I can count. The bed of the truck has a heavy duty liner plus a hard cover that hinge folds out of the way when necessary. So the bed has been heavily used to carry equipment to remain dry as well as many loads of lumber for home improvement jobs. Well used, well loved!
Story
After dragging a deer to the edge of the woods at my home, I decided to use my truck to cable it up and drag it the rest of the way to a tree, pull cable over the tree, back up and hoist the deer in the air to be held there for skinning.
Pros
This vehicle has always been easy to drive. Gets good mileage. The interior is easy to clean, and the material has remained great looking. All the inside components are working perfectly. I have made few repairs in 12 years and none in a major category. Under hood access to components is easy for regular maintenance. Even with age, the outside remains good looking and doesn't feel really dated.
Cons
Turning radius could be better, small parking spaces are not great to access. I had to replace to center console as the hinged top broke (probably my own fault...stuffing it to full).
