2007 Dodge Caliber - To love or not to be loved
I bought this vehicle from an older couple who's mom died. They told me it was low on miles and good on gas. Well, it was low on miles, but when I bought it during the winter time, I never noticed the sub frame was bad until I went and got it inspected again. There was a recall on my car because the sub frame was known to rot away. The company never sent out information on the recall, so I had to have a dealership look it over. Luckily, they put a whole new sub frame on for free.
Story
This was my first car when I had my son. My son is going on three and has been in this car since.
Pros
My windows are hand crank windows. This is good, because if I am ever in a car accident and my car is flipped in the water, I can still open my window to get out.
Cons
My car is not very big-people friendly. It's harder for bigger people to get in and out of my car. There's not a lot of room to pack a car for a trip. The seats move by hand and not electric. My car is not the best on gas. It's also only a front-wheel drive and not the greatest in winter time.
2010 Dodge Caliber - Good car but has its negatives
This car handles well and is very comfortable both to drive and ride in. The back is roomy enough to carry luggage for two people without dropping the back seats and even roomier when you've done that (I can transport my three dogs easily when the seats are folded down). It has satellite radio built in and also has a low tire pressure alarm, although it doesn't specifically tell you which tire is low, which is irritating in the winter trying to find the low tire.
The handling is a bit tight and the tires on the road are rather loud. The CV Transmission also takes a bit of getting used to as it doesn't obviously shift between gears. The vehicle also has rather obnoxious blind spots due to the position of the posts on both sides of the vehicle.
Story
Nothing that comes to mind.
Pros
1) Very comfortable
2) Very roomy
3) Fun to drive
Cons
1) Tires are rather loud
2) Blind spots are a hassle
3) Low Tire Pressure doesn't tell you which tire.
