2009 Dodge Caliber - The car looked nice and drove fine.
The car looked nice and drove fine. This was my first car, and I drove it for around six years. I had problems with the transmission after about 175,000 miles, which was frustrating. The hatchback was convenient, especially when paired with the seats that you could put down. It made it easy to transport things, and it was fun to take to drive-in theaters. The back seat had enough room to be comfortable for passengers and also had enough room to fit my son's car seat, but it was small enough so I did not feel like I was driving a large vehicle. The interior looked nice and was easy to clean. The car was pretty comfortable, but I did not particularly like the headrests. They seemed like they were pushing forwards. The alignment was off for a while though, which caused my steering wheel t... (more)
Story
I would watch movies at the drive-in in the trunk of my car with the hatchback up.
Pros
I thought the water bottle cooler in the glove box was neat. I also liked the size of the car and the hatchback.
Cons
I had a few mechanical issues and had problems with rust.
2009 Dodge Caliber - I like my Caliber a lot
The Caliber is dependable, even as a 10-year-old used car with over 180k miles on the odometer. It is sound (no rattles, etc.), and it still runs like a top. It is still trendy and eye-catching too. The interior is really made to last. I have three kids, and the seats don't look used at all.
Story
We had a huge group of Canadian geese cross in front of us in a line and had to wait about 10 minutes for them all to get across the road. Goose crossing!
Pros
It gets great gas mileage. Even being 10 years old, I still get 38 mpg. It's quiet and rides very smoothly. The hatch makes loading groceries and kids sports equipment simple. The radio, dashboard controls and instrument panels give all the information you need without being overbearing and is easy to use.
Cons
It doesn't have a lot of power on takeoff, but I wouldn't expect a four cylinder to have a lot of zoom. I wish it had a sunroof or some wing windows in the back. Sometimes there's not enough air flow on hot days.
