Think twice before buying discontinued vehicles
First and foremost I should point out that when I purchased my Mazda B2300, it was the first time I was financing a vehicle. I was working with a very small budget. Based on this, it was an absolutely fine truck for the price, and my needs at the time. It didn't have much power, but gas mileage was good. There was only one previous owner who maintained it well and put in a spray on bed liner as well as an aftermarket stereo. By far, the biggest downside was that the truck, as well as the comparable truck (Ford Ranger) had been discontinued, making it difficult and/or expensive to maintain or repair.

Nice and very reliable
I liked the color of the truck which was red. I did not like the black painted trim along the driver/passenger windows. I liked the body curves of the Mazda truck compared to the similar ford ranger, which has straight body lines. I like the sporty look of this style truck. Very comfortable ride. Just enough room for me and 1 full size adult, the kids were no problem in the extended cab. This truck had a bed liner and a tool box. The driver side mirror tends to drift when being driven. I have had hardly any breakdowns on this vehicle, other than routine maintenance, I have not replaced a thing. Mileage was what could be expected from the size of the engine, it had a 4.0 liter V6. It preformed flawlessly when I used it for towing small loads, or hauling loads in the bed. The truck had anti-lock rear brakes which worked great in the rain. Accel/ decel were ok for this truck. I expected a little quicker response with that engine but I guess the weight held it back. I felt absolutely safe driving this vehicle.

Dependable
I love the Mazda truck due to its dependability and low use of gas. This vehicle has carried me many miles and until it reached the 180,000 mark had relatively minor issues. After that point things have been breaking down. Such as the water pump blew out at the same time the radiator blew causing a head gasket issue. It has an oil leak that can't be solved and a power steering fluid leak. The truck has a blind spot when you turn to look to the left. Overall this has been a great truck for me and my mother to move and haul thing in. I love the fact that it will fit into small spaces and still be higher off the ground to see better than in a car. If I had to buy a truck again and they still were making the Mazda pickup I would buy it again. This truck is still going even with issue at over 200,000 miles and 16 years later. Have I gotten my money worth and then some? The answer is a resounding yes.
