2000 Audi A6 - Best Midsize Car
My Audi is a great, roomy car. I have a 13 year old son who is very tall and he has plenty of leg room sitting behind my husband driving who is also very tall. The car is comfortable for all of us riding. The car has a dual turbo system, so it is quite powerful. It also gets decent gas mileage for a 6 cylinder. I can expect to get around 26 mpg. This car has been very reliable, with no mechanical problems in the couple years we have owned it.

My family took this car on a family vacation to Colorado in December. The weather at home was warm with dry roads. It was the first bad weather we had driven the car in. We spent a lot of our time driving in Colorado because of how well it performed. Not nervous about the snow packed roads at all and we ended up getting some beautiful views of the snow capped mountains.

I love that this car has so much room and is comfortable. There are heated seats in the front and the rear. We have had no mechanical problems with the car that has left us stranded somewhere. It is also very powerful with a dual turbo. Also the fact that it is AWD is great!

The main problem I have had with my Audi is the power windows not working. The switch broke for one of the back windows. Also, the track broke for the front passenger window. It is a fairly expensive part to replace

1994 Audi A6 - Audi 100 CS Quattro
Purchased as a used car with 39,000 miles the car has performed admirably for the ensuing 12 years and 170,000 miles. The car is comfortable to drive long distances and since it is a wagon, it has enormous carrying capacity which makes the car extremely useful. We purchased the car to be a vehicle we would keep in service for many years and it has been remarkably reliable and will last for many more years and miles.

We have used this vehicle for everything from going to symphony concerts, to touring, to going to the lumber yard to haul dimension lumber. We even have hauled hay bales in it! A truly wonderful and dependable all purpose vehicle.

The Quattro all-wheel drive system makes the car quite invulnerable to capricious New England weather. Always delivering better than average fuel mileage, the car has proven that this Audi is an outstanding, all-purpose vehicle.

Service and maintenance are imperative on a car like this. We have maintained the car to "as new" condition, which means the car has been to the servicing facility every 7500 miles for oil changes and a thorough inspection. This procedure has resulted in quite high overall maintenance costs and Audi parts can be expensive. However our intention was to maintain the car as though we were going to keep the car for ten years or more and we have done so. Nevertheless, Audi's are NOT cheap cars to maintain.

1999 Audi A6 - Extreme comfort
I had originally received one of these cars as a service loaner when I took my older Audi in to the shop. I fell so in love with it that I decided to trade my car in for one when the service was completed a day later. This was the only Audi I'd ever had that wasn't in the shop regularly. It rode extremely well, had plenty of room and once you got up to highway speeds, plenty of power.
Inside, it was like a dream. Very luxurious, roomy, and comfortable. Every time I went somewhere my friends insisted that I drive just so they could spend time in my car. The way it drove, I did not mind accommodating them.
Fuel economy was not that good, the relatively small engine had to haul around quite a bit as Audis, especially all-wheel drive ones, are very heavy. But it was acceptable. There we... (more)

Fuel economy was not that good, the relatively small engine had to haul around quite a bit as Audis, especially all-wheel drive ones, are very heavy. But it was acceptable. There were no noises or any harshness and other than the problems with some switches I describe later the quality was excellent. Everything just fit perfectly and had a quality feel for it.
I do have to mention that I only owned this car for a bit under 2 years so it was still under warranty when I traded it in so I can't say about long term reliability but the car was normally aspirated and the Quattro system is well tested so I think this should probably be one of the more reliable German cars out there.
One day I was driving home from a trip through the mountains of northern Arizona when all of a sudden a rain/snow storm appeared out of nowhere. It started out as rain and then became wet snow. It melted when it hit the ground but it did form some slush. Needless to say, everyone had to crawl to a near stop but not me. It melted when it hit the ground but it did form some slush. Needless to say, everyone had to crawl to a near stop but not me. This was my first real taste of the Quattro all-wheel drive system and it was impressive. The car didn't blink and kept on going as sure-footed as it was on the dry pavement just moments before. From that point on I knew that if it was possible I would always get an AWD vehicle.
It was extremely comfortable and rode very smoothly. Despite the lack of power at city speeds, I didn't really care because it was so comfortable and the car always "felt" right. There was a lot of room inside as well as a lot of trunk space. Despite all the room and comfort, the car always felt agile and responsive. It wasn't a huge car but driving it certainly felt like a combination of the smoothness of a larger car with the responsiveness of a smaller, sportier one.

My biggest problem with the car was the interior. It wasn't a huge deal but a few of the controls felt flimsy, specifically the dial for the sunroof. But the biggest problem was the cream (in reality it was white) leather. It was supposed to be stain proof but it readily showed scuff marks and cracks even though the car was still fairly new. It might not have been very fast or powerful, the 2.8L was the only engine available at the time but since then more powerful motors are available and I would definitely recommend getting at least one step above the basic engine. However, once it got u... (more)

A lot of people liked the styling but I personally thought the rounded rear end was a bit weird looking. My car came with a dealer installed spoiler already on it and I usually don't like those but in this care it really helped add some lines to the oval rear and helped.
