1998 GMC Envoy -
We were driving a 91 Ford Ranger with 369,000 miles on it when we purchased our '98 GMC Envoy 6 years ago. We were open to pretty much any make/model, but living in the mountains, preferred a 4wd. We were giving up for the day when we happened past a used car lot, we saw the Envoy & another vehicle we both liked. So we wheeled in & looked at it. When I told our son who is a mechanic about the car & the price he said to buy it. It has been one of the best vehicles I have ever owned! The 4wd is indispensable, it has heated seats (which I adore in the winter or when my back hurts), it is a 6 cylinder, thus the gas mileage is better & to top it off, it has a BOSE stereo system that just blows everyone else away. That is a trademark of the GMC's, most all their SUV's have the BOSE system. I... (more)

That is a trademark of the GMC's, most all their SUV's have the BOSE system. It has a huge cargo area, for a smaller SUV; it also has a cargo cover so nobody can look in & see what you are carrying in the back of your vehicle . I find this to be a plus when doing things such as Christmas shopping or on a road trip. Over the years we have put a few thousand dollars in it to bring it back up to snuff. This vehicle has nearly 200,000 miles on it as we speak & I am in no way thinking about getting rid of it.
We have taken many road trips in this car -- going from VA to NC (about 300+ miles each way) & never had any issues with it. I have gone long periods without changing the oil & it has continued to run like a brand new vehicle. Road trips are always fun -- especially when you have the BOSE stereo to use. It was a beautiful vehicle & I believe many of the features were special order -- for instance, we have the most expensive set of air shocks around on this car. The Bose stereo was a happy plus. The good gas mileage was another plus, in addition, you have plenty of leg room for those long road trips. It has been a superb vehicle -- I have replaced a left axle & boot, new brakes & most recently, we did transmission work & replaced the catalytic converter. Besides tires, tune ups, & oil changes, this car has been a jewel . We have owned it for right at 6 years & couldn't be happier.

We had a shroud with a third brake like on the rear of the vehicle. We couldn't find a light to replace it when it went out. The dealer told me my car didn't have that on it... Sorry about that, but mine did. He finally told me they quit making it, so I was forced to go to a universal replacement part, which was nigh onto impossible to install properly. I ended up buying two of them , as they kept falling off & getting lost. Eventually, the entire shroud came off, along with the 3rd brake light & at that point we found a light that could be installed on the inside of the vehicle. That is... (more)

2015 GMC Envoy - I have honestly enjoyed this vehicle since day one.
Have never owned a brand-new vehicle. But to me with enough checking and research, one can purchase a pretty good pre-owned car. Since I had just lost my husband, I was able to pay cash for this vehicle, which was very nice. I have always driven an SUV. This vehicle was a single-owned vehicle with low mileage, and the lady that had owned it had kept all maintenance receipts, i.e., oil changes, tires, etc. in the glove compartment. I, in turn, have always kept up with oil changes and maintenance on my vehicles. Very roomy, inside upholstery and leather trim looked very good. Here lately I have noticed that my battery gauge is not working, but I believe that is probably a fuse. Here lately I have noticed that my battery gauge is not working, but I believe that is probably a fuse. The back seat will let down in order for me to enjoy the many estate sales and flea markets that I go to as one of my major hobbies. The only thing that has bothered me about the vehicle is that it makes a noise as if it needed to be greased. Which I have found out that no one does that to cars any more. Have had it checked but no one seems to know what is making that noise and I gotten rather used to it. I have driven this vehicle on trips and back and forth to work, and now has a good bit over 100,000 miles. It did not have a CD player when I bought it, but I purchased one and was happy to do that. I had to have my starter replaced a short while back, but it was just one of those things that happens. I think I have had and still have a very good pre-owned vehicle, and when and if this one gives out on me, I will again look for another pre-owned vehicle...but not without research and checking.
When a friend and I went to a flea market, and even after the back seat was let down, just about did not have any room for all we had purchased.

Full-size SUV. Interior looked brand new. Nice size storage in the back, even before letting the back seat down. I loved the color being a silver. Electric seats and windows.

No CD player. There was a noise in it, almost like it needed a grease job.

2003 GMC Envoy - GMC Envoy
I have a 2003 GMC Envoy. It is the first time I have owned a GMC. I purchased this truck in 2007. There was low mileage on the truck, and to this day, I have never had any major problems with the truck. It is average on gas, which I think is great for a SUV. It seats five and is very room for trunk space. I love the vehicle I chose, and I still drive it on long trips. I trust the GMC Envoy enough to know it won't let me down. I have such piece of mind while driving and running short errands or taking long vacation trips. I love my mid-sized SUV.

My family and I used this vehicle on a trip to the mountains. It was lovely; we were able to open the sun roof and just gaze up at the stars as we drove. There were hills and mountains, and the truck drove so smoothly, we never even noticed. It was a great day. We opened the trunk and used our grill to cook out on. It was amazing!

The truck has a sun roof, which is great during the day and very pretty for a summer night. I love that it gets a lot of mileage to the gallon, and it's a tough vehicle to beat as far as maintenance. It is a midsize SUV, but it is roomy and has lots of leg space, including a large trunk.

I had to get the sunroof sealed because it began to leak at one point. The seats are light colored cloth, which means stains are hard to come out. Sometimes there is an issue with the fan running heavy when the A/C is on, but it quiets down after about ten minutes. I think this was a factory defect at one point. But it doesn't bother the A/C or the way it drives- so no biggie.
