1993 GMC Sierra 1500 - Great truck
My truck is the best vehicle I have ever owned. The engine still runs strong, No knocking or clunking at all. It practically purrs for the year. It has only 165k miles on the thing, although the body has typical Michigan rust, which is common with these vehicles. That is the biggest downside really. Rust around the quarter panels, cab fenders, wheel wells. Those are the most problematic areas. The 305ci engine gets pretty decent gas mileage for the age and being a v8. Roughly 17 miles to the gallon, sometimes more, sometimes less. Parts are plentiful and in good spots, for the most part, to replace them.

Best thing I have done with my truck, it being 2wd, you think it would get stuck a lot. Well It rained heavily, and this nice lifted jeep was down a back road that I was on. They burnt out the expensive ECM they bought for the jeep because they went through a very deep mud puddle. Well I went through it as well, the water was half way up the door. The most it did was cause me to stall outside of the water, waited a little bit and bam, fired right up. The jeep guys were PISSED.
The best features of this vehicle is that it is roomy. It is only a 2 door but it has a lot of room inside the truck. I can easily fit 6 adults inside this with them being comfy even. The seats can fold forwards, and the rear seat flips up for a storage space under the seating. The rear vent windows are perfect for the year, offering great airflow. The leg room in the rear is pretty nice. I am a 6'2" adult and I can sit comfortably in the rear seat. The cab is also fairly sound resistant from outside noises. Not to bad for the wind whistling by at 60mph. It is a very smooth ride, even on r... (more)

The downsides of this truck is the smaller sized engine, a 350 would be a lot better then the 305. More horsepower and better technology behind the 350. It sits kind of low, but that is to be expected out of a stock half ton truck. Fuel pump is in a bad placement for replacement or repair. They should include an access hatch in the truck bed specifically for this reason. You need to drop the gas tank to repair the pump. The carrier barring is a pain to replace since it needs pressed fitted in. The starter is the non standardized, small sized so the cost of replacement is much higher then t... (more)

The headlamp switch is prone to going out, I had to replace mine twice, as the first time it caught fire in the dash, the second time it broke the supports.
1985 GMC Sierra 1500 - Best Family Truck
My 2009 GMC Sierra 4 door is a great truck. It has great fuel economy for a truck. I have had no major issues with it. I have taken it on many trips out of state and never had a problem. I had to put it in the shop only once in 6 years and the parts were already on recall so it was free. I only have 2 more payments left and the truck will be paid off. I can't wait. It is surprisingly still in great condition.

I have a bunch of memories taking my family on trips.

It is a very modern looking truck. It stills looks great after 6 years. The body of the truck held up very well. I also love the on star features. I enjoy the Sirius satellite radio and the phone feature with OnStar. I was also very pleased with the radio system that was original to the truck. I also love the rims that came with the truck. They were 20" chrome. I love that style more than any of the other ones that came out on other trucks.

The leather on the inside cracked. And I also wish there was more leg room in the back seat. I wish there was Bluetooth capability with the radio so the I could play music from my phone through it.

2008 GMC Sierra 1500 - All-around great vehicle
I loved everything about this truck. I owned it for 6 years: 2012-2018. It was extremely dependable, started even when 25 below zero. I used it as daily transportation to and from work in all types of weather: snow, ice, blizzards. It handled everything with ease. It was comfortable to drive with power seats and power folding mirrors allowed me to get in to a tight garage door. Heated mirrors and back window kept them clear in all weather; fog lights really helped to see in the dark and on rainy days. I have hauled groceries, lumber, furniture and outdoor equipment in the back. Mine was a double cab, so there was plenty of room for kids and dogs in the back, and the back seat folded up leaving extra room for large packages. I have hauled groceries, lumber, furniture and outdoor equipment in the back. Mine was a double cab, so there was plenty of room for kids and dogs in the back, and the back seat folded up leaving extra room for large packages. Radio with CD played well, and steering wheel controls made it safe to adjust volume and change stations without reaching over. It also came with a factory remote start and had exit lighting front and rear that stayed on after you got out so you could see to get into your house or store at night. There is nothing I did not like, although after riding in a friends truck that had heated leather seats and navigation, I was jealous. This truck was black inside and out and really was stylish, never had any issues with rust or breakdowns. I just traded it in a week ago with 146,000 miles and still running strong. With a V8 engine I got consistently over 18.8 miles per gallon. The automatic climate control feature kept the whole cab comfortable whether using A/C on 100+ degree days or heat on the -25 degree days. Auto dimming mirrors, auto headlights, and one-touch window down features add to the comfort of this truck. I traded for the same truck just 7 years newer. That is how much I loved this truck. This truck was good looking enough to park in front of a 5-star restaurant and tough enough to haul a bed full of lumber in the morning.
I used this truck to come home from work in Jan of 2018 in a raging blizzard and white out conditions, with icy roads. It took me 2 hours to travel 25 miles, but we never slipped.
