1998 GMC 1500 v6 review.
The GMC Sierra with the 4.3 v6 is reliable and fairly sturdy and will satisfy the needs of most truck owners unless the need to haul particularly heavy loads. The simplicity of the LT trim means there is less worry about fancy electronic components failing and easier for the home mechanic to work on. The bench seat is comfortable enough for most trips, but if you are going to do a lot of very long trips, a model with bucket seats may be more desirable. The v6 is a reliable engine that is cheap and easy to work on. Its smaller size means there is plenty of room in the engine bay to work. The transmission is also reliable, and one of the cheaper models to have someone work on since most of us don't do are own transmission work. Its appearance is rather plain. If you are looking for a distinct and good-looking truck, this may not be for you. It does have air bags for safety but only front ones newer model cars and truck will have more safety feature. The key does not have an electronic fob which is nice if you have to replace it because it is cheaper; however, it is potentially less secure. Gas mileage is acceptable averaging at about 20 m.p.g.. Overall, I would recommend this truck for someone who desires cheap reliable transportation above all else. With a topper this makes a great bicycle transporter with a bed-mounted bike rack.

Awesome truck and tough.
I love my truck. I used to have a 1997 GMC Sierra that I purchased from my grandfather before he passed away. This truck is very similar to that truck and is a 1998 1500 model. It is tough and not the plastic exterior as the new ones are.
