I really enjoy my 2016 Jeep Renegade. I especially love the color of it, Omaha Orange. This bright and unique color allows me to spot it easily in the parking lot when coming out of a store. It also has fairly efficient gas mileage for an SUV. I am consistently able to get about 25 MPG in my car. The car also has a lot of cute touches to it, which make it very unique that I personally enjoy. For example, on the bottom left hand corner of the windshield, there is a little silhouette of a Jeep driving across some rocky terrain. Also, on the bottom right hand corner of the rear windshield, there is a silhouette of a man hiking up a mountain. On the inside of the gas cap there is also a little cartoon of a spider saying "Ciao!" since the design of the gas cap does not allow for spiders to ... (more)

The first time it snowed in the area after I had purchased the vehicle, we took my car out on the snowy streets and activated the four-wheel drive. This is the first four-wheel drive vehicle I have ever owned, so to be able to drive around the snow covered streets without any concern for losing control of the vehicle was quite freeing and fun.
A Favor
Some of my favorite features of the car included the proximity unlocking feature. As long as I had the key somewhere on my person, all I had to do was place my hand on the door handle and the car would unlock. Also, there was a small button on the outside of the driver side door handle that you could press when leaving the vehicle that would lock the vehicle behind you. Also, the car features push button start so you do not have to actually put a key into an ignition slot in order to start the vehicle. This allowed me to not have to constantly keep track of where my car keys were at any gi... (more)

There is a slight whistle by the driver side window where it seems as though the rubber edging along the seam of the window did not create a perfect seal. Also, the acceleration in the car leaves a lot to be desired. It takes a great deal of force applied to the gas pedal in order to accelerate quickly when merging on to a highway. Also, I am not positive, but I believe that the windshield sits at a rather sharp angle upward from the actual hood of the car. During my first few months of ownership, I suffered from three small cracks to my windshield from small rocks hitting it, and I believ... (more)

My 2017 Jeep Renegade is my first newer vehicle. Every vehicle I have owned before this has been at least eight years old at time of purchase. My jeep was only a year. That being said, I had very high expectations about this vehicle. Overall, I am very satisfied. It has a nice chic look to it on the outside. It is smaller than most Jeeps, but it suits me just fine. I like the racks on top of the vehicle. We travel a lot, and we have a baby, so we have to pack a lot. There is not much room for cargo on the inside of the Jeep so we purchased a luggage bag to strap to the top of the vehicle. When driving so much its nice to have a cruise control that comes with the Jeep. Also, it is Bluetooth capable so my phone automatically syncs to the Jeep when I get it. With that I can answer the pho... (more)

We were trying to find a place to go swimming and were using our GPS. Where we live apparently the GPS does not know where some roads are. Our directions lead us down many dead end trails, and some where even driveways that it told us to turn down on. One of the directions it told us to take ended up being a two rut trail on some ones property. We drove past this persons house and started to p... (more)

Back-up camera- this camera has very clear resolution and has guidelines that show where you are going to and how close you are getting to something. This is great for someone like me with bad depth perception. Heated seats and steering wheel. This feature is amazing in the winter. Our Jeep has leather seats, and we live somewhere that gets crazy cold in the winter (like -20 or lower), and when I remote start the Jeep, the seat heater and steering wheel heaters automatically come one. The remote start is a great feature on its own, but adding the heaters are great. It's so nice not getting... (more)

Pretty small. We bought this Jeep from a dealership a few hours away, so everything was done online. I did not realize just how small the interior of this vehicle was. It is not car seat friendly. We have went from a infant car seat to a convertible car seat, and while they are rear facing, they do not leave much room for the seat in front of them. We have to put the car seat behind the passenger seat and the passenger seat is so close to the dash that it is unconformable for people to sit. When we have more children we are going to have to get a new vehicle. Lack of cargo space- because t... (more)

This is one of the better Jeeps that I have owned, and I am on my fourth Jeep. One of the things I really like about this Jeep is the body style. It's futuristic looking and has a lot of smooth curves that make it stand out against other cars. The engine is four-cylinder, so if you're used to a V6 or V8, it does take a little time to get use to, but the slight loss of power is a great trade off for the amazing gas mileage that you get with this car. Like all Jeeps, it rides a little bumpy, but it's far less bumpier than a Wrangler.

I took this car to Colorado with me and my two dogs. We slept in it along the way and then went hiking at Garden of the Gods. We had a blast with the girls in the backseat sticking their heads out the windows and taking pictures along the way.
A Favor
The Renegade is super comfortable. It easily sits five people or two humans and two dogs. The back seat can be thrown down (like all Jeeps) to give you more cargo space. I love having cargo space underneath the back floorboard. It's nice to hide stuff if needed. I have two dogs, and they can easily fit in the back seat, or if I want to give them more room, I put the back seat down, toss their beds in the back and they can stretch out. There's plenty of little nooks to tie off their harnesses too so they stay safe and secured while I drive. The gas mileage is amazing for a Jeep. I only have... (more)

The Jeep costs less than other models, and that's reflected in the plastic used on the panels and trim. I've had to take it back to the dealer twice in the two years I've owned it in order to get trim replaced that either broke or came unhinged. However, it was covered under warranty, so it didn't cost me anything. Because it does have a four-cylinder engine, you don't have the get up and go that you're used to with a V6 or a V8 so take that into account when trying to gun it on an on-ramp.

Jeep Renegade Generaciones

The Renegade is Jeep's subcompact crossover, which shares a platform with the Fiat 500L. It's the smallest vehicle Jeep makes, slotting below the larger Compass, Cherokee and Grand Cherokee. It competes with the likes of the Honda HR-V, Nissan Kicks and Chevrolet Trax in the fast-growing subcompact SUV segment. The Renegade is the first Jeep vehicle to go into production exclusively outside of North America.

First Generation (2015 – Present)

Exterior and Styling
The Renegade has the boxy shape, round headlamps, and seven-slot grille of the traditional Jeep lineup. Unlike the Jeep Patriot and other predecessors, the Renegade has the top of its lights slightly shrouded by the edge of the hood. The Renegade is shorter than the Jeep Patriot and Compass, but it compensates with more width to come close to the interior room of these compact SUVs.

A mild refresh for the 2019 model year drops the shroud and gives the Renegade new LED headlamps similar to those on the Wrangler. The seven-slot grille stays in place but gets slightly wider openings. The redesigned bumper features multiple air vents, and the fog lights have been moved closer together and inboard of the headlamps.

Interior and Cargo Space
The four-door Renegade has seating for five passengers. It features front bucket seats and a 40/20/40 split-folding rear bench seat. The passenger seat and rear bench seats fold to expand cargo capacity. The Renegade has 18.5 cubic feet of cargo room with the rear seats up and up to 50 cubic feet with the bench folded flat. For a subcompact crossover, this cargo capacity is well above average.

The interior styling depends on the trim level and the optional package bundle a buyer chooses. The Popular Equipment Group, for example, features a power eight-way driver seat, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and automatic temperature control. The Cold Weather Group adds heated front seats, all-season floor mats, and remote vehicle start. Other packages include the Advanced Safety and Lighting Group, the Technology Group, and the Safety and Security Group.

Powertrain
The Renegade is available in a choice of two powertrains. The standard engine is a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque; it's paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

The optional engine is a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder that generates 184 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque; it's paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The 2.4-liter engine is standard on the Trailhawk and Limited models and optional on lower trim levels.

Front-wheel drive is standard for all models except the Trailhawk, which comes standard with all-wheel drive. All other trims offer AWD as an option.

Trim Levels
The base Sport trim comes with features like remote keyless entry with power door locks, cloth seat upholstery, a 3.5-inch digital display and 16-inch steel wheels. Optional packages add four-wheel-drive, 16-inch aluminum wheels, power windows, and a 5-inch color touchscreen display.

The mid-level Latitude trim comes with air conditioning, power windows, a 5-inch color touchscreen display, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Power-retractable and manually removable sunroof roof panels are available for this and higher versions, including a MySky system that offers manually or power-retractable roof panels. The Popular Equipment Group adds a power driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a nine-speaker audio system. The Technology Group adds rear park assist, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning.

The Upland and Altitude limited-edition models add some minor trim upgrades, tow hooks, black exterior accents and larger 18-inch alloy wheels.

The off-road oriented Trailhawk combines four-wheel-drive with Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction management system which lets drivers choose presets for snow, sand and mud driving (there's also an Auto setting for everyday driving). The system balances the four-wheel-drive, traction control, throttle and other inputs ensure optimum traction.

The Trailhawk also gets an extra 0.8 inches of ground clearance, 17-inch alloy wheels, front and rear tow hooks, hill-descent control, and skid plates for the gas tank, transmission, and front suspension. Leather seats and sunroof are optional.

Standard features on the top-range Limited model include the 2.4-liter engine and nine-speed automatic transmission, leather upholstery, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, eight-way power driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. The Limited version also comes with chrome exhaust tips, windshield wiper de-icer, and bright side roof rails.

2019 Mini-Refresh

The Renegade got some new tech features in 2018 for the 2019 model year. A rear-view camera is standard on models, and all but the base Sport model get Jeep’s Uconnect 4 infotainment system and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

The infotainment system comes with a choice of a 7- or 8.4-inch multi-touch display with customizable menus.

All trims also get more custom packages and more options. The seven packages available for the Sport version, for example, add deep tint sunscreen glass, cruise control, and a remote start system for models with an automatic transmission.
