Awesome
This vehicle was purchased new in 2004. I can count the number of repairs done on the car on one hand, and none have been serious. The car is reliable and fun to drive. The bed is of sufficient size to haul a gas grill, lawn mower, or a new stove. With the Baja bed extender, I could probably move a sofa. Even after 11 years, my husband, who suffers from severe back pain, finds the passenger seat to be comfortable even on long trips. The ride is smooth and fairly quiet. The vehicle's ability to handle snow and wet roads is comparable to that in other all wheel drive vehicles. The back seat is roomy enough for two passengers (perhaps three if one is a child) without too much complaining. Forward and rear speakers provide fairly good sound for both radio and CDs. Had Subaru not discontinued manufacturing the Baja, I might very well be in the market for a new one just to have the updates. As it is, I will drive this vehicle until it falls apart, which doesn't seem too likely to happen in the near future. It is not uncommon for people to approach me in parking lots and inquire about the make and model of the vehicle, expressing interest in purchasing one of their own. Mileage is better than average, and the sunroof is perfect for a big dog to stick his head through when driving to the park!

A great car
This is a great car. When I first got it, I was not sure if I should have gotten it or not. There were some things that needed to be fixed, and I thought that after a few months, it would break down on me. It does not really go fast, but there was a lot of space, and it saved me a lot of money on the gas. It actually turned out to be a good deal, and it still has not broken down on me.

Great First Car
This was my first car and I absolutely loved it. Simple, easy to use and just the perfect in-between of truck and wagon too meet all your needs. It drove like a tank, a bit heavy on the gas, but it gave me a sense of security and power. While the same price as many of the more sporting cars, the Baja allowed me too haul everything a dirty horse riding Midwesterner farm boy would need on a daily basis. The biggest problem I've had in nine years of ownership is the power-turning starts to squeals every 50,000 miles or so. Which is more than understandable, I've crossed the country 9 times with this car. Great gas mileage and it wont quit out anytime soon.
