The main thing I like about this car was how much space is inside. I have two toddlers and we have a lot of stuff to carry around with us and it seems to fit everything perfectly. There is plenty of room for my kids' in car seats in the back and even when my long-legged husband rides in it, there is still plenty of leg room for him and the kid behind him. I also like the cupholder the folds down in middle of the back seat. That is very helpful when hauling children. The car doesn't seem to have any problem in the snow. It ran through it great last winter without any sliding. I love how it drives. It holds turns really well and is very smooth on our bumpy back roads. It definitely has power and it feels very sturdy and safe. I have hit one deer with it, completely crushing the front-end... (more)
Historia
We took this car camping this past summer at the river. I loved it because I put all the wet clothes on the hood and top to dry in the sun. We used the trunk open all day to put food in so the ants/bees wouldn't get in it. It was great to have such an all purpose car.
A Favor
Space would be the most positive thing about this vehicle. There is plenty of room for kids, adults, and "stuff". I even take my dog, a German Short-haired Pointer, with me in the front seat sometimes. I love that the car has AWD. We live in the country and it's nice to know you have a vehicle to get you around, no matter the terrain. When riding in this vehicle, you set up off the road more than in other cars. It feels shorter than an SUV but higher than a car, which I think is great. I really like to drive this car. It really holds on to the road and makes turns effortlessly. The small c... (more)
En Contra
I think the worst feature to this vehicle would be how the trunk opens. The only way I can get my trunk open is to use the key. So, if the car is running, I have to turn the car off, open the trunk, then start the car again. This can be very annoying. I also do not like that the gas tank lid has to be opened from inside. I don't know if it's my car in particular but the air conditioning has never been very cold. We can put it the fan on high and it take forever to cool the entire car down. I do not like that the speakers are in the doors. I know most, or maybe all, vehicles do this but it ... (more)

The 2012 Subaru Legacy I purchased new has been an overall good car and I have had mostly positive experiences with it. The car is all wheel drive and hold the road very well, especially where I live, which is a mountainous area. The car holds itself well in inclement weather, and I have driven comfortably in it in snow and rain without having a bad experience. The car has pretty good fuel economy; I commute about 40 minutes each way to my current job and I have to fill up the tank about once a week. I have never had to add oil to the car and the car has needed minimal maintenance since I bought it. One inconvenience I did have with the car is that I busted one tire shortly after I bought the car and I had to replace all four tires, which cost me a fair amount of money. Also, when ther... (more)

I have gone on the Devil's Backbone road that is all curves, and the car was able to be driven fast and still hold the road really well.
A Favor
Able to turn on the car remotely in hot or cold weather, so that the temperature is comfortable when I'm ready to drive it. Good fuel economy. Holds the road well, even in bad weather. Fair price for value.
En Contra
Having to replace all four tires at once, even if there's nothing wrong with the others. Confusing signals from the cars computer, including the tire inflation light and lights going on and off that don't signal a particular problem and have to be taken to a mechanic in order to be diagnosed.

1992 Subaru Legacy - This car made me fall in love with Subarus.

This was the first car I got out of high school and my second car ever. It was a gray, slightly worse for wear 92' Subaru Legacy hatchback with about 150,000 miles on it. The transmission had just been replaced as well as battery, and I drove it for probably another 100,000 miles before I had any mechanical problems with it. Eventually I had to replace the alternator and about 100,000 miles after that, the transmission gave out, and I couldn't replace it, but I would buy another in a heartbeat. I lived out west and traveled frequently through the U.S., and this car was the best in bad weather. That all-wheel drive was indispensable. It never once got stuck until I purposely decided to test its limits and drove it into 2.5 ft. of snow. I got it out pretty easily even then though! It had... (more)
Historia
I said this above, but when I was living in Idaho during the winter, I started to think my car was invincible when it came to the snow, so I decided to try out its limits and eventually got stuck in 2.5 ft. of snow. I rocked out pretty easily though and learned my cars limits.
A Favor
The reliability, storage space and all-wheel drive was definitely my favorite aspects of the Legacy.
En Contra
The fuel economy could have been better, and it wasn't the most stylish car, but I didn't care when I was zooming past people stuck in the snow with a whole storage unit of supplies in the back to enjoy the cold weather!
