Having just under 200k miles on my buggy, I surprisingly can't say many negative things about her. Living in a city with a low budget for road repair, my Suzuki has held up well, as I ride her like a spastic pony. She's been through some rugged terrain, and has held her own.
Historia
Going downtown one night, I was the designated driver - so we took the tops off and piled up 7 people in the Vitara, 2 in front, 5 in back, and have a raucous time driving down crowded lanes. We made more friends that night than any other, and most of them were gained by screaming at people who were once strangers.
A Favor
As a soft top vehicle, I do love that the lid comes off fairly easily. A few rips of Velcro and twists of screws, all in all it takes about 10 minutes to dismantle the top and have a worthy beach cruiser. The back seats fold down allowing substantial space in the back, enough room to pack a tent, cooler, folding chairs, and any other beach necessities you can think of. Even living down south and taking the top off frequently, the AC is kept contained in the front, so I can enjoy the sun but have the effects of modern man keeping me comfortable. And she's certainly a head - turner, people a... (more)
En Contra
The worst thing about my Vitara is the one that is inherently unchangeable - it's a very small car. I like to think she's masquerading as an SUV, a small body with a large roar. After riding her so roughly over the past few years, she has a few loose bolts and rattles occasionally while I'm idling. Also, considering the soft top, she doesn't retain heat well at all. This is not a northern-weather resistant car.

My car has well over 100,000 miles. I have driven it far and wide and not yet had any engine problems, or anything major. One problem that I do have a lot is the AC. It is so annoying! It will go out and then once I hit a bump- it will be back on. Also another problem is I feel like the interior is rather cheap. For instance- only the drivers side door and back door will unlock. Every other door has to be unlocked manually and with there being no key entry on the passengers side it's very annoying to wait for the driver to get in and unlock the door, especially when it's raining. It gets me where I need to go but I don't haul work equipment or anything like that. Overall I love the body and look of my car and it's been good to me as far as reliability, but when it comes to interior qua... (more)

I have had some of my best memories in my car. My husband told me that he loved me for the first time when we were dating while in my car on a road trip.
A Favor
Good body and reliable
En Contra
The middle console broke so it slides all the time. The plastic parts are also cheap. The window roll down button on the passenger side has completely fallen through as well as the outside piece of my mirror fell off. And I am great with my car, aside from racking up miles I am not tough on my car.

About a year ago I bought a used Suzuki Vitara with over 100,000 miles on it. It is a really nice vehicle considering its age and miles. It still shifts smoothly into and out of 4 wheel. It gets about the same mileage as my very abused Toyota Corolla I had before it, but has much more head and leg room.
Historia
Driving to work in the snow, coworker was driving his Subaru which he kept saying was a better vehicle than my Suzuki. When it came time to pull into the driveway at work, he slid right by the entrance while I pulled right in with no sliding what-so-ever.
A Favor
It has decent power when needed. It is rear wheel drive in 2 wheel mode, so it is more fuel efficient than front wheel drive vehicles for most of the year. The 4 wheel option is nice for heavy snow falls which happen a few times a year around here. Plenty of space for groceries and such, and nice head room, as at just over 6 feet tall I can wear a proper hat while driving. It is a smaller SUV, so I don't feel like others are judging me for driving it.
En Contra
I wish the stereo had a line in or USB plug, but given the age of the car not surprising that it doesn't. Being an old fashioned SUV, body on truck frame, rather than a crossover, it can be a little cumbersome at times, but not overly so. I still miss the handling of my smaller cars sometimes.
