OK, I've been in sales around Portland for about 30 years, but never car sales, I know somewhat how the game is played. I went in and I already had their ad in my hand for the car I wanted, and I'd already called ahead to make sure it was there. I had already researched my Ford Edge Sport online and knew what I wanted, and I was going to sell my previous Ford Escort myself. I also had financing set up through my credit union at a real low rate, so no problem there. The first salesman didn't want to show me the car I wanted, so I said I was just looking. Eventually I saw it with the price in the window right in front by the street, cool. I hung around it for a few and a young lady came out and asked if I needed help. I told her everything, what I wanted, what I had, and I was ready right now. She said OK, it's her first day, but no problem. She led me back into the showroom and her manager helped write it up. I had to say NO, to a bunch of add-ons and insurance gimmicks, plus they wanted me to finance it through them, but I just kept saying no. After just an hour, I was driving home in my new car, got a great deal because it was a loss leader ad. But that's the way you do it.
