I bought my 2015 Escape new and have had it for almost two years. Other than a recall in 2015 - which was fixed immediately - I have not had any mechanical problems with this car, and have put over 28,000 miles on it. I did get a few options, including the winter package with heated seats and rubber floor mats, as well as the upgraded entertainment system (Sync). Gas mileage is very good, especially compared to previous Escapes. I've done more highway driving than city driving, and have been getting close to 28 mpg combined, at least according to the vehicle information center. The interior is no-nonsense and relatively easy to keep clean. It handles really well - very much like a car as opposed to an SUV. But when it comes to DIY maintenance like putting in a new cabin air filter, eng... (more)
Story
My previous vehicles were FWD sedans. When snow would pile up, I would go about once or twice a year to get one front wheel caught in the snowbanks that are alongside the driveway, and it was very difficult to get the car out. With this four-wheel drive Escape, I was able to get in and out of the driveway easily, even after having two feet of snow dumped on us in a couple days. Just having the... (more)
Pros
Gas mileage - gets pretty close to 30 mpg on the highway; can typically go 350 miles or so on one tank of gas. Handling - is responsive and easy to drive. Eco Drive helps you change your driving habits to optimize fuel efficiency. Four-wheel drive and heated seats are worth it during the winters in the Northeast. Fold-flat rear seats and load floor make for easy transport of cargo.
Cons
Cabin air filter requires a lot of contortions to replace. Changing engine air filter requires ratchet with extension - previous cars just had clips to unfasten. Battery is shoved back behind the engine, making it difficult to reach. 2015 models lack autonomous braking, blind spot awareness systems, and other safety systems that are ubiquitous in 2017 models and beyond.

My 2015 Ford Escape is my favorite vehicle I have ever owned. There is a feature where the car will sense traction loss and engage 4wd. I have never felt so safe in a vehicle while driving in the snow. The inside is roomy and has lots of tech capabilities. I enjoyed the comfortable ride and have had this car for three years and have not had to replace anything. It was a roomy vehicle for a long road trip. There is a turbo engine that uses Fords eco boost to accelerate, although there is a long delay before activation. The car has a small engine, which is a problem for some, but for daily driving, I didn't find the car needing any more acceleration capabilities than it comes with. There are other features including winter weather package and sunroof features. I chose the model with a s... (more)
Story
I watched a modified, suped-up pickup truck try three times to get over a snow mound. Unsuccessful, the truck turned around and found a detour. However, my car easily made it over the trouble area, and I don't even have snow tires.
Pros
I enjoyed the back-up camera and sync technological capabilities. I most enjoyed how it performed in icy or slick conditions. The gas mileage was approximately 22 mpg, which was acceptable to me and my driving style.
Cons
Lately, I have been having some issues with the Ford Sync not connecting to my phone. I am unsure if this is actually related to the vehicle's device or a software issue on my phone. Also, there is a serious lag to engage the turbo engine feature.

I was not pressured by a sales representative but rather I felt like I could walk freely around the lot without being harassed. They let me take the car for a test drive by myself, actually told me to take the car out and bring it back when I was done. I had researched the car I wanted to purchase and was fully equipped with the knowledge of what it cost and what I was going to spend. I gave them my price and without much haggle it was accepted.
