The Ford Expedition is a great vehicle for families. It has three rows of seats and can seat up to eight people very comfortably. It's also a great vehicle for hauling (just fold those back seats down!). With a hitch on the back and a high towing capacity, it's perfect for towing. The Expedition is a solid, high-quality vehicle with a good reputation. Many old Ford Expeditions are still performing well with over two hundred thousand miles on them. The leather interior is classic and comfortable. The stereo system is top-notch. It's like a truck and a family car all in one.
Story
We travel full-time in our camper throughout the United States, using our 2006 Ford Expedition as a tow vehicle.
Pros
The Expedition is spacious, comfortable and great for traveling. It's easy to drive and has great visibility. I like that it's a classy vehicle and looks great, but is also simple, no-nonsense and practical. The towing capacity is great (up to 9,000 pounds) with the 5.4 liter engine. We've towed a twenty-nine foot camper thousands of miles with our Expedition.
Cons
The gas mileage isn't the best. It gets about 12 mph city driving and 18 mph highway driving -- less if you're towing. It's a big vehicle, so it's a little harder to maneuver than a car.

I think it is a great family car. If I were to get another one, I would get a newer model and one without a moon roof and stock DVD player.
Story
We love taking our family to the park, including our dogs. We also love to go on family road trips to Michigan and travel quite a bit in it whether locally or out of state.
Pros
There is a lot of space. It is very comfortable to ride in on road trips. We could fit our two boys and our two dogs, one being an English Mastiff quite easily. I have drove it for almost 7 years with no issues.
Cons
The brakes are quite expensive to fix and seem to always chug to a stop no matter if all has been replaced. Quite expensive on gas when gas prices are high. I have had an issue with the motor going out for the heat/AC controls in the rear. Also, the moon roof leaks inside if it rains quite heavily. Even with all the drains being emptied or not clogged it ends up coming through the DVD player and getting the carpet and seats wet. Thankfully I have leather but it still leaves a musty smell.

I have purchased three vehicles from Auto Masters. I have been a customer with them since 1996 when they were a small tote the note car dealership on Nollensville Pike. I purchased an Acura Integra, a Mazda MPV, and a Ford Expedition from them. All three of the vehicles lasted several years. Whenever I had any mechanical issues they were very helpful, and either repaired the problem themselves or referred me to a mechanic shop that gave me excellent discounts.

The staff was willing to work to get me the best car for the money that I had. Didn't haggle to much over price and didn't run up a bunch of fees and the like. Even threw in a free once over by the shop.
