When I bought my truck at the police auction, I admit I was slightly concerned that it already had well over 200k miles on it. That was well over a year ago, and I can't make this truck quit! Sadly, like I said, it was from the police auction. The police had it because it had been stolen by a criminal and later recovered by the police. That criminal who stole it took everything out of the truck he thought had any sort of value including the radio, catalytic converter, and the dome light. Yes, even the dome light. Lacking these things, however, just made it that much easier to get a good price for it at the auction. I paid only $1000, but I have easily gotten my money's worth out of it. It runs great, it has lots of power, and it even sounds like it has attitude. My only complaint is th... (more)
Story
My wife was driving my truck one day, she was taking our children to grandma's house so she could go to work. The roads were rather icy, so she was driving very carefully. Unfortunately, the lady behind her was not quite so careful. My wife saw a couple cars ahead that were stopped for some wildlife crossing the road, so she slowly brought the truck to a stop, but the lady behind her wasn't pa... (more)
Pros
Many positives about this vehicle, the acceleration blows me away when I need it to. The cruise control actually works. I have actually had really terrible luck with newer cars in this respect. My other vehicle was made in 2008, and the cruise control has never really worked at all. But this truck can still do it all the time for hours on end. The four wheel drive still works too. Without the four wheel drive, I could never make it home on snowy nights after work. A quarter mile at a 45 degree incline is no fun on foot, but no problem in my F-150.
Cons
Obviously, being a half-ton pickup truck built in the mid-90's, when gas was still less than a dollar per gallon, the mileage leaves something to be desired. 13 miles per gallon is really sad when considering that I rarely drive in stop and go traffic. Most vehicles get a 20% boost or better when driven only on the highway, if the same is true for my Ford, it only got around 10 MPG in the city. It didn't come with a spare tire, so I am slightly concerned that I might one day run over a nail, blow a tire, and be truly stuck in the middle of nowhere without any cell service.

The V8 engine was awesome. Never had any problems with power when it was time to tow a trailer or pull a tree out of the ground. The ride was high and the suspension was smooth. The style on the F150 is timeless. All go and no need for show. Every thing a young bro could want in a pickem up truck.
Story
I used it to go on a vacation with my friends. 6 Seat belts in the cab and plenty of room in the truck bed meant we only had to take 1 vehicle. This was nice for gas prices but also added to the trip because we got to spend time together.
Pros
The truck never broke down, and maintenance was easy. The truck stood tall enough to get under the rig without a jack. Plenty of space under the hood made accessing parts a cinch. The truck with a topper made for a great transport vehicle. Whether running errands to the big box stores or moving a friend, this truck was the ticket to success. The lack of breakdowns meant there was more time for enjoying the good things this truck brought home for me.
Cons
Gas mileage was not good, but just like grandma taught us when we were young "You gotta pay the cost to be the boss". There were a few leaks that didn't get fixed when seals where replaced. The interior stayed in good shape except the driver side seat, It started to crack. Never had major problems with the motor or transmission so I don't know how involved those repairs might have been.

The vehicle inspection, test drive and purchase all went very smoothly. I did not face pressure from the salesman or the finance guy and they did not try bothersome tactics when negotiating the price (such as the 4 squares on the paper, etc. ).
