2012 Ford Fusion - Started out great
My car was amazing when I drove it off the lot. It was quiet on the roads, comfortable for five of us, looked great, and got amazing gas mileage. Having the ability to keep track of the actual MPG my car was capable of gave me good feedback on how often to fill the tank (and where.) Maintenance was a breeze at the dealership, and my car was always reliable. Cosmetically, the low-profile tires look good, but they are a pain! I've had to replace my tires more than six times in the seven years I've owned the car. Also, over time the car began to have issues; specifically the transmission slips, hard. This car started out so great, but the troubles started about two years in and have only gotten worse.
Story
This car really does have some get-up-and-go. I recently got a speeding ticket going 84 in a 65. The truth is I was going 95, and the cop felt sorry for me so he knocked it down more than 10mph before he wrote the ticket. I don't recommend this.
Pros
Gas mileage was phenomenal. The Sync Bluetooth feature is great! The factory speakers/system sound really nice. The drivers seat is adjustable automatically (with a driver 1/driver 2 setup) The cargo room in this thing is amazing, especially when the back seat is laid down flat to access the trunk!
Cons
The passenger seat is only manually adjustable and isn't as comfortable as the driver seat. The low-profile tires wear down much faster than others. The transmission started slipping around year four.
2007 Ford Fusion - Started well, not a good finisher
The Fusion fulfilled my need for a good sized trunk, good handling and response, good pick-up acceleration and a few features like the trunk opening feature (fob-based). I like the room in the back seat, since I needed it initially for packages and bulkier stuff. Over time it seemed as if the materials used, especially exterior and interior trim, were of poor quality. I don't think I've ever had so many plastic and vinyl pieces fail and become brittle/break in a car or truck. The upholstery also seems to be difficult to clean or restore to the point where I gave up on some parts (seats) and simply covered them with better quality aftermarket options. The vehicle was a fleet or rental vehicle when I purchased it and had only 34k miles on it. Looking back it seems that a few things (seat... (more)
Story
Always amazed at the number of boxes and smaller packages that I could store and pack into it - usually as a courier when I was dispatched, it was always a little funny and irritating to hear my dispatchers tell me they "knew" I was driving an SUV or truck, so they always seemed bug when I corrected them about what I could take on-board!
Pros
Size, room, braking.
Cons
Overall and specific types of durability, finish and trim quality. Air bag recall has brought out the worst (lying, stonewalling, miscommunications) in Ford's corporate side and with a Ford dealer. Does Ford understand how their reputation has taken a hit from this multi year fumble?

They had the car we wanted with all the amenities we were looking for. They also were willing to negotiate a fair price with us.
