I like that the car was affordable, and the SES trim gave it a sharp appearance with a sleek spoiler, low-profile tires, and beautiful wheels. The mileage is solid and, for me, averages around 24 in the city and closer to 30 on the highway for long trips. It lacks a little bit of pick-up, definitely looks faster than it is. Never any issues merging onto a fast highway or anything. This said, on long trips my biggest complaint is the level of comfort. Not really all that comfortable to sit in for long periods, and I am not a tall guy at 5'6".
Story
My wife and I took this car to the beach in Myrtle Beach and drove on the sand. We got stuck quite a few times, but it was a lot of fun, and we had a buddy there with a Wrangler to help pull us out over and over.
Pros
My favorite things about the vehicle are the look and the easy maintenance. I am a very novice mechanic, but I have replaced brake pads, rotors, and the stabilizer links on my own in addition to routine oil changes, etc. The car is not that hard to work on. I like the simplified dash controls as well, nothing too fancy with distracting buttons or dials.
Cons
The most negative thing I can think of with this vehicle is the interior. While the outside was very sharp looking, the inside is rather plain. Also very tight quarters. It is difficult to take the family and a heavy cargo load for a long trip. My wife and I will use her crossover for that sort of getaway.

2011 Ford Focus - Great mileage, SES is a very sporty trim.

I enjoy the SES trim, sharp wheels and a low profile spoiler. It adds a nice touch compared to the SE trims I see driving around. Comfortable ride, steering wheel controls easy to operate for media, cruise, wipers, and lights. Have taken many long (800+ mile) rides in the Focus with no complaints.
Story
We were on a long trip to Daytona, FL. When we got there we learned we could drive on the beach, which we were nervous about, since this car sits so low to the ground. We managed to drive across the beach, even park and spend the day, and get out of the sand without getting stuck!
Pros
Gas mileage was a big factor for me. I wanted something that still felt like I had some room to move around inside, and wasn't crammed in like a sardine, but I didn't want to sacrifice gas mileage to do so. Bought it at 15,000 miles as a used rental, so it was probably driven hard for those first 15,000, but I am at 95,000 now and it runs beautifully.
Cons
The biggest con to the car would likely be the space in the backseat. I'm not back there often, but if you have any tall friends or plan to do any ridesharing, they will be short on the leg-room in the back. Additionally, trunk capacity isn't all that great, and the shape of the sides of the trunk can make it hard to utilize the space that is there effectively if packing for a long trip.

We had an excellent salesman. the finance department went out of their way to get us the best deal. The manager of the store introduced himself and worked really hard to get our business. The service department fixed an issue that we had with the car when we came back with our paperwork and they let us take our new car without having the title that day. We brought it back.

This dealership was the opposite of a great dealer. I ended up getting a pretty good deal but only after threatening to contact Better Business Bureau. Basically we agreed on the price of a car, but only later that day did I discover that they had charge me an extra $1500 in "dealer" fees for a used car. I discovered that the coupon book they gave me that had a few discounted oil changes cost me $300.00 And so on. There was no question that they have a method by which they add on a variety of fees without you noticing. When I called them on it they pretended that the "girls" in the office had just made a mistake. Also if you check online review sites they will have all these five star positive reviews posted on the same day. Stay away.
