The hatchback Ford Focuses are cute little cars and have pretty high mileage per gallon, making them a compelling choice for individuals who want a car to get around town in. However, the Focuses have an "innovative" transmission that has resulted in a civil action suit against Ford because they break down so often. The vehicle is now known for its "clutch shudder" and should not be purchased out of warranty.

The 2013 Ford Focus SE is overall a pretty reliable car for the price. I purchased it with 50,000 miles on it and an extended warranty and it has been mostly reliable. The exterior is a somewhat sporty hatchback that I find to be rather cute. The hatchback makes it incredibly practical for carting things around -- the car looks pretty small but I have fit a loveseat in the back after putting the back passenger seats all the way down. The car also gets pretty good gas mileage and has a pretty small tank so it doesn't break the budget to fill up.
