Ford Focus Owner Ratings & Reviews

2012 Ford Focus - Mediocre and unreliable.
My mom bought me the Ford Focus SE 2012 in mid 2011 I believe, and she got a flat deal of $20,000 cash. If it was me buying, I would not have spent so much. She wanted it to be a present because I was graduating from Notre Dame. The way I saw the car from the beginning was just "average". Its not super sporty, it's not big and beefy, it's just a car. The exterior look is pretty sleek but it doesn't really stand out amongst other cars from the same year. All in all it is not a memorable car, not one that people are impressed by or a magnificent bargain, but it got me through most of my early twenties was moderate satisfaction.
Story
I made a giant road trip with my mom from Indiana to Texas after I graduated from college. It got us through that massive trip and one or two others that I've done solo. so it deserves a little respect there.
Pros
The car gets good gas mileage, looks good, has a nice interior, and a pretty useful sound system (SYNC) which can be used to listen to USB or Bluetooth music. Not much else stands out to me, but I'm not much of a car guy. Overall, I guess things were pretty nice but standard for what was expected for 2012.
Cons
The vehicle had some factory defects. After only about a year, the engine seized. It was partly my fault because I had been about 7000 miles without an oil change but I was also told by some that there must have been something wrong with it for that to happen. The transmission can be shaky and feels week a lot of the time. The electronic console circuits started getting iffy after a year or two as well. The battery just died after 5 years but apparently that's pretty standard.
2002 Ford Focus - Got me from point A to B.
OK. When I first purchased it, it was a good vehicle. Ran fine and whatnot, but the previous owner had not been completely upfront with me. After awhile of driving, things became obvious that it wasn't as advertised. That's not really the car's fault but buying used is always sketchy even with Carfax. Since it was an older Ford, the wear and tear of the vehicle was inevitable. Everything on that car was plastic, which can be a good thing as in replacing parts was super cheap, but things were constantly breaking down. Every other month I needed to replace a part here or there. At first it was okay, but you really had to be quite knowledgeable about cars to keep up repairs. I took it to a mechanic, and the cost would have been more the car was worth. But with a little internet research, ... (more)
Story
I drove her from Texas to Florida and named her Roxy...last trip she ever made.
Pros
The interior, the handling, gas mileage, and cheap replaceable parts that were easy to come by. The A/C was great.
Cons
The cheap replaceable parts. Didn't last very long. Everything being plastic allowed oil leaks from the engine.

Plano, TX Dealer Ratings & Reviews

2009 Ford Focus - Carmax Plano
I was able to shop online, have the car sent to the store closest to me, and test drive it without having to get out to car dealerships to get all of this accomplished. I also had a situation where I had to wait for my cosigner to be back into the country, and my salesman did not pressure me to get my car purchased immediately as most dealers do.
