This car was a very good car during the first couple years I owned it. Gas always seemed to stretch further in my car than any other. For the first two years, I didn't have any problems starting the car, and it never left me stranded. There wasn't very much storage space, and often times I felt cramped. There was a strange noise that came from the engine area during the later years that I owned it. The gas and brakes were just perfect, being neither too touchy or not touchy enough. The steering was good enough for me. I have a weak shoulder, so its important steering be pretty easy on me. My friend, who had a very bad back, found the car to be as comfortable as I did. During its last years of life, however, I found the car was very expensive to maintain. It was always something new and... (more)
Story
I recall one time when I was taking my nephews to the zoo, in another state. I had actually set this up with their mother. She called in school for them, and it was a surprise from day one. We all piled in the Focus and took off on a long journey. There was some bad weather we drove through. The steering was very good, and the tires had excellent grip. I could hardly see because it was r... (more)
Pros
There was a lot of good to this car. It was initially bought for me to get back and forth to class, and around town. I live out in the country, so having a car was a need. I found that this car was very comfortable, and reliable. Even my good friend with a bad back was comfortable in my car, which was a big bonus because I spent a lot of time with her back when I was young. This car was most excellent on gas, as I would take it to events and outings with my friends. When we had to drive far away, everyone would vote to use my car since it was so good on gas and comfortable. I thought it ha... (more)
Cons
After a couple years, I found this car seemed to fall apart at the seams. First of all, let me express to you how little space I found there to be. Grocery shopping was never fun, and although my car was good on gas - it had the space issue. So when my friends and I would go on road trips, we never had much room at all for our belongings. After about two or three years, it seemed like I was putting the car in the shop for something new almost every weekend. It got to the point where I was paying over 400 a month just to get the car fixed. I took really good car of the car when I had it, bu... (more)

I acquired my Ford Focus (Station Wagon) when my mother could no longer drive and had to sign it over to me. The car has carried me through several winters, and been a trooper through almost everything. The gas mileage is not as good as it likely was when it was new, but it hovers around 20mpg which is fine for my purposes. It continues to run well and gets a tune-up yearly. The car holds a lot of cargo for such a small station wagon, and carries a large metal dog crate in the back cargo area easily with room for boxes on the side. The back seat is roomy enough for passengers and there is plenty of legroom in front. It is an automatic shift, and the transmission runs very smoothly. There are no oil leaks, and maintenance on the brakes has been routine. For an older car, it has done ver... (more)
Pros
The top positive things about my vehicle are the reliability it has shown me as far as how the engine runs, considering how old it is, and the fact that it has a very roomy interior for a smaller station wagon, which is great for a dog crate, groceries, packages, people.
Cons
The tailgate latch sticks sometimes, the blower fan for the heater needed to be repaired several times, and the car has some rust issues underneath from being a northern US vehicle and driving in a lot of salt and wet roads.

2005 Ford Focus - A good budget car

We have a 2005 Blue Ford Focus. It's a great little car for a budget. It's not fancy or a high end car, but it does its job. It has taken us many places safely and has been reliable. It has a unique look, with a high roof and curves. The blue color is between navy blue and a light blue, making it easy to find in parking lots and different from all the black and white cars you see on the streets. It's a practical car, not one for driving fast or looking fancy, but compared to other cheaper, older cars, this one has done us well. The interior of the car is easy to clean, black and grey colors, and is comfortable to sit.
Story
This car has been all over North America. Bought in Canada, it has traveled to and from the states many times. It also has had many travels when we lived in the west and recently brought us to our new home in Florida safely. All the way from Utah to Florida, we were happy and safe in our ford focus.
Pros
This car is great on gas. On average, we spend about $20 of gas a week, and drive daily to and from work in central Florida traffic. It's easy to maneuver. The inside is sleek, but modern. All buttons and features are easy to use and do a good job of letting you know their function. I love how easy is it to park, being a smaller car. I also love how the windows and locks are power, not manual. For a small car, the Ford Focus has plenty of trunk space. We can fit a couple suitcases and other things easily. We moved cross county with our little blue car, and it has been good to us for the mo... (more)
Cons
We have put a lot of work into the car. It is has some silly issues that I didn't think we would ever deal with. It also is sometimes very shaky and loud, making it harder to drive and feel like a smooth ride, especially if you go over 95 mph. If you are looking for a high end, fast, easy, and sleek car, the 2005 ford focus is probably not your best option.
