I bought this car used for $1,000 with 144,000 miles on it. I have had this car for two years now and have run it ragged and it has not failed on me yet. I have encountered no break-downs, no noises, and have only raves about what a good car I got for $1,000 dollars. I actually have never liked Fords but this car is sleek, sporty, and well designed. The only design flaw it has it that there is no arm rest in between the driver's seat and passenger seat. That and the way the driver's seat has worn down are my only complaints so far. The seat has become uncomfortable over the years. There is a hard portion of the chair's frame that is protruding into my body in the seat portion and the back portion due to the cushions getting more deflated with time. The car is a stick shift and not havi... (more)
Story
I have a great time every weekend cruising around Ft. Bragg North Carolina. My weekends are why I keep driving on and give me my will to live. Having a reliable car to take me to my husband every weekend is worth a million dollars let alone $1,000.
Pros
The dependability first and foremost. It now has 176,000 miles on it and still is going strong. I have put 32,000 miles on this car in two years cause I travel a whole lot for work and to see my husband he is in the military and I live four days part of the week in Tennessee and the other three days, usually the weekends, in North Carolina 45 minutes from the coast. I have been making this commute and been living in this way for two and a half years and found a car to take the abuse. I love how sporty and stylish the car is for being so old the style is still in it does not look dated at ... (more)
Cons
The only problem the car has asides from the seat wearing badly and no middle arm rest is the fact that the electronic display and dashboard lights have stopped working all together. I simply bought a light that hooks to the car cigarette lighter to illuminate the speedometer, fuel gauge, and the other dashboard items displayed. This is inconvenient and have been told it would be costly to repair. You have to manually turn on the external lights I have illuminating the dashboard gauges and remember to turn it off when you have parked and are done with the car. I have forgot to turn them of... The car functions as a car should.
Story
I enjoyed driving on vacation up north with a friend in this vehicle, but that's about it.
Pros
The vehicle manages to get me where I need to go, and I am able to modify things in the interior for my needs. I have not yet, but the lack of complicated features means I can modify it easily.
Cons
It gets me from home to where I need to go. It is not a car that I can trust for a long trip though. The user manual also lacks certain information I would like to see, such as how much power the DC outlet provides. The manual only states the physical size of the fuse that can be placed on the line, not what fuse I should use (20 amp, 10 amp?) This is a bit of a safety concern if I put in a fuse with too high of a rating. The air intake is located in the drivers side wheel well. The air intake also has a bucket with a hole at the bottom to prevent water from going up through the air int... (more)

The Ford Focus is an excellent vehicle for the in town driver or for traveling across country. The car receives excellent fuel mileage and is overall a low maintenance vehicle. For a single person, this car works out great for me by allowing me to carry all of my camping gear. However, this vehicle is not for everyone such as the off road enthuses or a large family.
Story
A fun memory that I have is from this past summer when I went on a summer vacation. I was able to see many interesting parts of the country including beautiful rock formations and beautiful forests.
Pros
This vehicle averages 28 miles per gallon in town and between 30 to 35 miles on the interstate. Even though the engine is a 4-cylandier engine, the vehicle performs excellent on steep graded roads. This is great for a family vehicle as well as traveling around the country or driving the vehicle to and from work in town.
Cons
I have had to replace the tires twice on my car and within a year of each other. In addition, I had to have a part replaced in the front end that affects the alignment. There is also an inconstant issue where the plastic locking mechanism wants to stick in the heat which prevents the lock from unlocking and allowing a person to open the door. In addition, this is not an off road vehicle which does not fit my life style.
