This Ford Focus is a great commuter car. It isn't the kind of car to pack up and throw the kids in for a multi-day road trip or anything like that but, with good gas mileage, basic bells and whistles and comfortable seating the Ford Focus LX really is a practical and fun to drive car that comfortably fits four adults. I mainly use the car for commuting and driving around town. It is easy to park, fits nicely in smaller downtown parking spaces. My only negative comments would be that the sound insulation could be better as could be the upholstery quality. This is comfortable for being in for an hour or two but I don't think it would be very comfortable for long-haul driving. The brakes work well and it is generally low-maintenance. Overall, I would highly recommend the 2010 Ford Focus t... (more)
Story
My kids want to use it instead of our minivan because they think it looks "cooler."
Pros
Gas mileage, steering, braking, space, affordability really this is a great commuter car. I also see that it has fairly good resale value, and the maintenance costs seem to be relatively low for a vehicle of this car's make and age.
Cons
Sound insulation isn't great. Seats aren't comfortable after an hour or so. However, given that I purchased the car for a commuter car and not a primary family car, these cons aren't that consequential.

2010 Ford Focus - A reliable and fun vehicle that shouldn't be pushed too hard.

The 2010 Ford Focus has a number of features that are very desirable, including SYNC technology, a USB port, colorful interior lighting, and a spacious trunk. While it gets excellent gas mileage on the highway, the fuel economy for local driving is less than desirable. There are a number of interior rattles, indicating some limitations in build quality, but the electronic components have never been faulty. The seats are comfortable, and the dashboard has a sleek look. I have driven this car across the country and up and down the California coast, and despite some quirks, it has been a very reliable and fun experience owning this car.
Story
I drove this car from Michigan to California, making stops through the rocky mountains of Colorado, the national parks of Utah, and the deserts of Nevada and was comfortable and entertained the whole way.
Pros
I appreciate that this car has ample trunk storage space, which is perfect for taking the car up to a national park for a weekend camping trip. I also love that the car is equip with a USB port, SYNC, and Bluetooth technology so that I can always listen to music anywhere or talk on the phone hands free. The acceleration on the car is great, and it does exceptionally well climbing up various terrain elements.
Cons
The interior rattles in the car are very annoying, and I often find myself banging on the dashboard or door handle to make it stop while I'm driving. As a student, I do wish that this car had better gas mileage for local driving. It would be ideal for a commuter, since it has better fuel economy for highway driving. Now that I have driven it for almost 100,000 miles, I am starting to worry about its longevity because it drives fairly rough.
