The Ford Focus attracted me most due to its economical starting price tag and decent fuel economy. I purchased the vehicle just before beginning law school and wanted something that would be reliable, get good gas mileage and not need costly repairs during a period where I wasn't working more than part-time. For a 4 cylinder vehicle, my Focus could get up to 70+ MPH in a hurry. I drove from Minnesota to California in the vehicle and never questioned my ability to do so. The interior, stereo system and trim were fairly basic. This was a no frills vehicle for a no frills period in my life.
Story
3 people crammed all of their luggage, music and snacks in the Focus for a week long drive from Minnesota to California and back.
Pros
Good acceleration - very drivable in heavy metropolitan traffic Good passenger capacity - seats 4 adults comfortably Good gas mileage
Cons
Some of the early 2001 models had a mechanical defect in the engine that caused engine implosion - my Focus happened to be one of them

The 2013 Ford Focus is a simple yet efficient vehicle with variety of pros and cons that will be quickly discussed in this short review. The Ford Focus I purchased in May of 2017 was a used 2013 SE hatchback model with 79,500 miles at the time of purchase. This vehicle is silver with a black leather interior and has a five-speed manual with a 2.0 liter engine. I would say that I really enjoy this car because when I initially bought it, I was looking for a smaller vehicle that achieves decent gas mileage but also had a durable transmission and a reliable engine. The 2010's models of Ford Focuses are known to have transmission problems, so this is why I went with a five-speed manual transmission. The quality of interior in this car seems to be good and doesn't have that overly plastic fe... (more)
Story
Taking this vehicle on road trips; so far, it has been reliable and comfortable on trips.
Pros
The pros to this vehicle are the gas mileage, interior space, and features for the overall price. The gas mileage all depends on the person that is driving, but I seem to average around 32.2 MPGs per gallon, which isn't great compared to hybrids and diesel vehicles, but seems decent enough for an American economy car. The interior space for this vehicle is very roomy for the driver and passenger aspects. The seats in the back fold down to add more room if bigger items are placed in the trunk and more room is needed. This vehicle models come with Ford Sync, which is an electronic display th... (more)
Cons
The negative item or complaints that I have with this car are with the rims and just general maintenance with the vehicle. The issue I have with the rims is that the dark silver coating on the rims seems to be coming off even though the car is around five years old now. The issue I have with the maintenance of the vehicle is how certain items, like the air filter box, are located in hard to reach places.
