When Ford had first announced that they were going to be releasing a Ford Focus ST, I was ecstatic. The first car I had ever bought was a 2002 Ford Focus SVT, which I absolutely loved driving, and the new ST looked like it was going to replace my fond memories of the SVT. I couldn't wait to get my hands on one. Overall, I have been happy with the Focus ST. I had been in the market for a hatchback car for the extra space in the rear when the seats are folded down. I started playing hockey again, and to get my gear in and out of my old Civic was a huge pain. Having a hatchback again has made transporting any big items much easier. The car is extremely fun to drive. It has a lot of power behind the turbo charged engine, and I love opening it up a little when I have the opportunity... (more)
Story
It feels like I'm in a special club when I drive the Focus ST. They aren't the most common car, but when you see someone else driving one, you wave at each other. It isn't something I've had happen in any other car I've driven, so it's something I always think is cool when I come across another ST driver on the road.
Pros
The car looks great and is fun to drive. When I first saw the car when it was announced, I thought it looked aggressive and would be fun to sit behind the wheel. That certainly came true when I actually had the opportunity to buy mine. I never feel like the car is lacking in power. If I really need to accelerate to pass someone, or to get up a hill, the car accelerates without any issues. The six speed transmission is smooth and adds a level of enjoyment I didn't get out of my previous cars. The space inside is great. With the rear seats folded down I have no problem fitting all of ... (more)
Cons
My biggest complaint about the car is the turning radius. I have never been in a car or truck that takes as wide of turns as this car does. I simply cannot make U-turns or make tight turns in parking lots because the steering wheel stops me from turning as much as I need to. It's a frustration that I am still trying to get used to. I feel like I need to actively plan alternate routes due to this limitation. It also makes parking the car a huge inconvenience. If I am trying to get into a spot that has cars on both sides, I normally have to reverse one or more times to straighten out b... (more)

I purchased my focus when it had 0.3 Miles on it. Today I have over 160,000 and she is still going strong. Living in a northern state that gets a lot of snow, I was concerned that the Focus wouldn't handle well in the winter. The stock tires weren't great in the winter, but once I put on some quality all seasons it handled like a dream and I rarely had issues with winter driving. The fold down rear seat leading into the trunk is amazing in this car. The cut out between the two compartments is gigantic so I can fit a lot of gear through it. I used to take it ice fishing and could fit a suitcase style clam house in it, along with my hole hopping sled, gas auger, seats, bait, rod gear, beer, and a fishing partner with room to spare. It may not have been the sexiest ice fishing vehicle, b... (more)
Story
While fishing on White Bear Lake late at night I decided I was going to cross the lake to try out this great spot. I had my iPad out with my Navionics app running and was concentrating on just pointing my car in the right direction. Well, I looked up and realized I had driven off the plowed ice road and was going through pretty deep snow. Eventually the Focus couldn't get through the snow and ... (more)
Pros
Easy Repairs Low cost Reliability Huge trunk pass-through Okay on gas Easy to find parts and repair videos
Cons
The Alternator (I blew through three) Gas mileage (28-30 on the highway isn't the best but not the worst) Low resale value
