2002 Ford Focus - Cheap plastic car.
This car is cheap and made of plastic. I do a lot of DIY repairs and upkeep when I have to, and I have seen things on this car that I have not seen on others. I needed to clean my throttle body at one point. When I removed the air hose connecting to the throttle body, I noticed that the actual throttle body was made of plastic and not metal, very cheap. There is no radiator cap. You must refill the coolant through the reservoir, which makes it harder to get air bubbles out. A lot of the screws holding the interior panels in are made of plastic. Am I supposed to use my plastic screwdriver to remove these so I don't strip them?? Other than the cheap build of the car, it gets okay gas, about 20mpg and has lasted almost 200K miles.
Story
I once strapped a large 12-ft. kayak to the roof with ratchet straps. I had to climb in through the window to get in the car.
Pros
I have the hatchback, so I have plenty of room. I can fit a small whitewater kayak in it as well as my fishing poles. It's lasted almost 200k miles. Replacement parts are pretty cheap.
Cons
It's made of plastic in some pretty important places. Oil filter is hard to reach. It has 20 MPG.
2013 Ford Focus - "Average car"
I bought this car used because I do home health and the reviews were good for great gas mileage. The price was good for what I was wanting, the overall look of the car I am pleased with. The biggest issue I have is the transmission is "jerky" at times. I am fearful of having to pull out quickly due to I'm afraid the car won't get me there fast enough to avoid an accident. The rubber trim around all the doors is very fragile and has already come apart and I've had to put it in place several times. The cloth seats are VERY easily stained, even with just a drop of water it leaves a stain. The comfort of the seats is something I do like, the driver seat is very comfortable and since I'm in my car a lot due to my job, that is important to me. I enjoy all the "fancy" dashboard items, compute... (more)
Story
I do home health and drive my car a lot. I am constantly in and out of the car during the day. I have 2 teenagers who have always "named" my car in the past. I purchased this car a little over 6 months ago and had my daughter "name" the car. She thought and thought and since the car is grey in color she thought "Gary" would be a great name! Gary is the snail on SpongeBob and my daughter says I... (more)
Pros
When I first saw the car I really liked the overall "sporty" appearance of the car. It's a small car that really looked good to me. Most importantly the gas mileage was what I was looking for in a new car. I do home health and drive a lot so of course I want a great car for gas mileage. This car is great with averaging over 31 miles per gallon currently. I personally think that is wonderful with all the stop and go that I do. I enjoy the radio/CD player and love the Bluetooth capabilities in the car. The "hands free" is wonderful when you drive a lot and need to use the phone. I like that ... (more)
Cons
The most negative aspect of this car is the transmission being very "jerky" at times. It is something I have researched and this particular year model has that problem. I don't feel like I can trust the car if I need to pull out quickly. It doesn't do it all the time so I never know if the car will actually have the "jerk" reaction. The rubber trim around all the doors in my opinion is very cheap. The rubber "seal" in the rear doors just comes loose and I have had to put it back in place each time. When I go through a car wash or if it rains I always find water in the bottom of the door fr... (more)

2014 Ford Taurus - Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Lenoir City
Friendly staffs that gave me great deals without having to beg or haggle. They were patient with me. I didn't want to chose the wrong car so I had to test drive like one hundred cars before finding my Taurus.
