I have a 2016 Ford Focus SE. I got it used from a large national used car dealership. At the time I bought it, I was so frustrated with my old car that I bought it off the lot without even test driving it. The car gets almost 40 miles to a gallon, and I drive about 100 miles a day so that is important to me. It's not uncomfortable but also not a luxury car. I have had no mechanical issues over the past 60,000 miles (it's currently at 87,000). And the tires that were on it when I bought it lasted to 80,000 miles. Its very practical, which is exactly why I bought it.
Story
Last year I used the car to take several bee hives to a family member several hours away. I had never put bees in that car so it was kind of fun. Also within the first week of owning the car, I put two bales of straw in the trunk. I grew up in the country moving hay and livestock all the time so I got some humor out of using a ford focus to do it later in life.
Pros
Relatively inexpensive for a car these days. No mechanical trouble, I can do the all the maintenance on it. It's easy on tires and gas. The car seems reasonably smart (can predict your driving style and stuff). It has a very effective back-up camera. It's super easy to drive. And it is way faster than any 2.0 inline four engine has any right to be. I can fit a large mountain bike in it with the back seats laid down
Cons
The road noise is very loud. I've had multiple passengers comment on how loud the inside of the car was when going on the interstate. And that is with two different sets of tires. Additionally, the dual clutch transmission can be kind of jerky and stutters at times. It really feels weird during stop and go traffic. Also, it doesn't have air vents for the back seat, which seams trivial until you put a screaming kid in the back seat in the summer...

What I like about this vehicle is that it is easy to do fixes on, it has plenty of space, good on gas and it is average looking. The bad part is that it is far from fast and sometimes you will feel embarrassed to look in your rare view mirror when going onto a highway or up a hill. Surprisingly the speakers are pretty good too! It's a very basic and simple car and it literally does the job. If you want to learn how to repair cars, this will be a good car to start with. Repairs are easy, but still expensive as always. However, the junkyard is always a great option since many old Fords lay to rest there. I think the 2003 Ford Focus is one of the last series of the Focus that has come to have the name of being reliable as the newer ones seem to have lost that reputation. The problems that... (more)

We drove it from Pennsylvania to North Carolina while all wheels were actually loose. Luckily we made it alive and well and got it fixed!
