I've had my Mustang for over 10 years now. It was the first of the body style change and is beautiful. It is the GT version and handles very well. There were a few issues in the beginning that come with buying the first of a new model, but it has held up with no major repairs required.
Story
I had to drive a few hours away to get the exact model (color, stereo, interior combo) that I wanted. At the time it was brand new and the GTs were hard to find. Ordering was out of the question as Ford was backed up on orders & taking months to deliver. Since I didn't drive a stick at the time, my uncle had the fun of driving the car back to our town! We got lots of stares, waves & honking at... (more)
Pros
This car is fast and fun to drive! The GT has 300 hp and sounds great. The leather seats have lasted well over the years and the paint still looks nearly new.
Cons
There were some issues in the beginning due to being a new model such as a gas tank/gas cap issue when pumping gas (fixed), CD skipping (fixed) and battery drain when the car is not driven for awhile (ongoing). There is also an open recall on the air bag.

1998 Ford Mustang - Favorite car I've owned.

Mustang is known for the being the "classic, affordable muscle car" and that is absolutely true. I bought a black paint, black leather interior, black convertible top GT in the spring of 2016 from Raleigh, North Carolina. The mustang was sitting on the lot with only 79k original miles with a one owner, garage kept, meticulously maintained record. The inside was clean, no tears in the leather seats or holes worn through the carpet. It was a non-smoking car and there was no odors or ash anywhere in the vehicle. The engine started first try even after sitting on the lot for months, and once temperature had balanced, it sounded strong and properly maintained. The exhaust note from idle had slight "lop" but wasn't loud enough to wake the neighbors up. I took the car for a test drive when fi... (more)
Story
2 months after purchasing, I dropped the top for the first real time and drove about 100 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Asheville NC. This is what changed my feelings about the soft top.
Pros
The most positive thing about this vehicle when I purchased it was the low amount of original miles on the engine. The second best thing about this car was the T65 manual transmission combined with the powerful 4.6L V8.
Cons
Originally I wasn't extremely happy about having the convertible top for wind/noise problems, as well as the maintenance and leaking possibilities of the soft top.
