2008 Honda Fit - Greatest car ever
The best thing is it drives really smoothly, the navigation feels fantastic. The overall physical quality is economical, but the performance is excellent. I like the price I paid for it and feel I got everything I needed in a car. The technology works great-the air conditioning has almost instantaneous effect, and most have held up with regular maintenance primed for a long-lasting ownership.
Story
Saved money on hotel sleeping inside the car overnight while on a vineyard touring trip, as car interior is spacious with back bench placed down. However, it was freezing weather, and I barely got any sleep, but it was still an adventure.
Pros
The car is designed to fit things inside, the whole back bench can be placed downward to make room for bigger items, long items can be placed by putting the passenger seat all the way down as well. The car is small and light, which is great for city parking, and fuel economy. The interior fabrics are easy to clean.
Cons
The seats are rather bucket-like, typical of Honda vehicles, which may not be the most comfortable. The frame and walls are thin and may not protect as well as more robustly built vehicles in case of accidents, crash ratings are not the best. The dashboard can look on the cheap side. The tires are smaller, and the suspension feels sensitive to every bump in the road.
2015 Honda Fit - Pretty good fit
I leased the Fit for my school-age daughter her senior year, but ended up driving it myself when she went away for a summer internship and then college. This was the fourth Honda I owned ('82 Civic, 2002 Odyssey van, and 2012 Pilot), so obviously I am a fan of their cars, though this may have been my least favorite.
Under the hood, I never had any problems with the engine; runs like a top. But I will say that it is seriously underpowered. This was not a big concern for my new-diver daughter who picked the car and I suppose underpowered is better than overpowered for a kid (though I am of the school that minimum power is actually safer) but it was pretty underwhelming to drive. There also is a notecable pause when you first hit the accelerator, which is probably related to some sort of... (more)
