This is car was a good car until about 60,000 miles. It drove nice, comfortable, ample storage, and looked good. However, at about 60,000 miles the air conditioner/heater blower would stall out, so sometimes it blows air and sometimes it doesn't. I have also had a lot of issues with the front end shocks, tie rods, and simple alignment issues. At one point the car was going through brand new tires at 4 a month as it was eating the inside of the tires down to the wire. I had a mechanic tell me that these cars only last until about 100,000 miles. I am currently at 125,000 miles, so I guess I'm doing well.
Story
When my car was new I drove it everywhere. I was a child welfare worker and I would often fill the backseat with child car seats. The kids and I would turn on kid friendly music and sing loudly as we traveled down the highway. It always seemed to calm them down.
Pros
I really like the visual appearance of the Elantra. It has reasonable storage and built in XM radio. Of course nowadays, most vehicles probably do.
Cons
There are many negative issues to note. First the door speakers are really not meant to jam to a loud radio as I busted mine within a few months of buying my car. Secondly, I do not like the mechanics of laying the back seats down - it is much like an acrobatic motion. You must pull a handle in the trunk at the same time you are pulling the back seat down. I'm sure they could have found a way to simplify this. Lastly, I do not think these cars are made to last. So if you are lucky enough to able to afford a new car every few years, then by all means by an Elantra but otherwise try somethin... (more)

This is a great car for the going price. The back seats fold down completely, not just partially like a lot of cars that advertise this feature. The heated seats are a great bonus, as well as the interior being super easy to clean. For a small car, there is a surprising amount of leg room in both the front and back of the vehicle. Car seat installation is a breeze, and the radio with Bluetooth features is super simple to learn as well. The fact that it only takes $15 to get a full tank of gas is nothing short of a blessing, either, being that I live on a tight weekly budget.
Story
My husband recently hit a curb in our town going 35 mph. This damaged our rim, which in turn damaged the tire, and the strut was broken as well. Due to the common model of the car, finding the parts to get it fixed was so much easier than if we had gone with a less popular model. This means it was also cheaper, since used parts were more readily available. Being someone who has a tight budget,... (more)
Pros
My favorite features would have to be the heated seats, and the fact that the trunk is so large before even laying down the back seats. The back seats folding all the way down is great, too, considering a lot of cars that advertise this feature only have seats that lay down partially. The Bluetooth features of the radio work great and hands-free calling is super convenient, as well as not being difficult to use.
Cons
I've owned my Elantra for close to a year now, and have yet to run into any major cons for this car. I really can't think of a single thing worth complaining about.
