The 2008 Hyundai Sonata has proven to be a reliable commuter car. The handling is good and ride is smooth. I bought this vehicle used/like new and it has held up with virtually no maintenance problems for the 7 years I’ve owned it. There have been a few quirks with this particular model having both 2008 and 2009 parts, making an oil change tricky the first time in terms of getting the right filter. Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with the car and trust it to get me where I need to go. The seats are comfortable with plenty of room, although a little tight for someone over 6 feet tall. The car is more attractive than other similarly priced sedans. The trunk release is in the driver door and I’ve accidentally bumped it on more than one occasion, opening the trunk when I didn’t mean to, b... (more)
Story
I was in a packed parking garage with a long line of vehicles in front of and behind me. A lot of cars had parked in more than one space, straddling the parking space lines and making it hard for the larger vehicles to find a space. I waited while three separate vehicles tried to squeeze into one of the few remaining spaces. Each tried and ended up pulling out because there wasn't enough room.... (more)
Pros
Fuel economy, design and appearance, road handling, cup holders.
Cons
Seems to have been manufactured between years and has both 2008 and 2009 parts.

My Hyundai Sonata has provided me with a smooth, comfortable ride for the last six years. The car handles exceptionally well, gets excellent gas mileage, and has massive space both in the interior and the trunk. I love picking up my buddies, throwing all four sets of clubs in the trunk, and enjoying a great day on the golf course. With one of the rear seats folded down, I can even fit my skis in for winter trips! The iPod cable lets me easily play the music I want to play, and the Bluetooth integration with voice commands allows me to talk on the phone without taking my hands off the steering wheel.
Story
I picked my wife up after work, folded the back seat down, put our skis and gear in the trunk, and drove an hour to the local ski resort for some night skiing. We had plenty of room, and the car handled the snow brilliantly getting in and out of the parking lot. The slopes were fantastic, and we had an amazing night.
Pros
I love the car's sharp, aggressive look. I feel like I'm driving a luxury car for about 1/3 of the cost! The interior has a very nice design and allows the driver and all passenger's plenty of space to ride in comfort. The Sonata gets excellent gas mileage, routinely over 35 MPG on the highway and averaging 30 MPG for me going to and from work. The sound system delivers crisp, sharp audio, and the Bluetooth system lets me make or take important calls on the go.
Cons
The only negative thing I have to say is that I have had an issue where the key kept getting stuck in the ignition.
