Overall, the vehicle is very solid and dependable. The interior leather seats stand the test of time. I have had no problems with the transmission or engine to date. Although the backseat could use a little more legroom and different configuration of cupholders, this vehicle overall provides good quality for the price paid.

The Kia Sportage has enough room for five passengers, and from personal experience can hold enough camping gear to take a weekend excursion. The passenger space combined with the equipment space is a huge draw for me. I never saw myself driving an SUV type vehicle but I have been pleasantly surprised by my Kia. It has smooth handling and a decent gas mileage (~27 MPG), and over the course of the year that I have owned it the only major issue I have had was with a brake sensor that was fixed under warranty at no cost to myself. The safety features of this car are excellent as well. I have never been in an accident with it to test the airbags, but the seatbelts are well placed and very responsive even to sudden breaking. The engine has a break-away mount that moves it away from the cabin in case of a front-end collision.
