We purchased this car new in 2001, after owning a 1987 Honda Accord (purchased new) previously. We sold our 1987 Honda Accord (with over 200,000 miles on it) to the neighbor for a very nice price--because Honda's retain their value, even allowing for the high mileage! The Civic is smaller than the Accord, but really comfortable, and very economical to drive. We average over 30mpg freeway and 28mpg around town. There's over 150,000 miles on our Civic and we travel long distances in it without worrying about it breaking down and leaving us stranded. The back seat lays down and this almost doubles the space in the trunk. We make sure it has regular maintenance performed on it, using the guide in the owner's manual, and we've never had a breakdown. It uses no oil and has never had any leak... (more)
Story
We nicknamed our car 'the Silver Bullet' because a) it's silver in color, and b) it's quick to accelerate. Whenever we get ready for a trip, we tell people we're taking the Silver Bullet for a ride.
Pros
Excellent gas mileage Low Maintenance cost Comfortable seating with plenty of leg room front and back Exterior Paint and interior carpet and upholstery holds up well over the years Nice styling Competitively priced Great value for the money
Cons
Radio reception is poor in unpopulated areas (i.e., driving across the desert in New Mexico or in open range areas of Texas).

The car is sporty. It has automatic and manual mode so it can be driven according to the driver's preference. I prefer to drive it in automatic. I like that the car is spacious enough to transport 5 people without feeling too cramped. The trunk space is spacious and can carry two carry-ons and two large luggages to the airport just fine. It can also fit snowboarding gear just fine as well. In the years that I've owned this car, I've had no real problems.
Story
This car took my friends and I to LA for a whole day of food adventures. It was spacious to have 4 passengers and enough room in the trunk to carry all of our overnight bags. LA parking was difficult, but this car is easily maneuvered which made it easier.
Pros
I liked the sporty shape of the car. The ample amount of space it has in the cabin and in the trunk. It is easy to maintain and easy to drive/ park, which is a big plus in the city.
Cons
The gas mileage could be better, but I do a lot of city driving versus highway driving.

The dealership was friendly, courteous, and pretty fair when it came to negotiations. They also provided me with free extra car service for 3 years (certain limitations, of course) and always helped out when I needed help.

Great prices, sales people were police, quick service, I received 0% financing and they had a great inventory. I was specifically looking for a manual transmission Mazda and they were the only dealership in the area that had exactly what I was looking for!
