The Mazda 6 has a smooth sporty essence but it also says 4 door sedan that aunt Peg isn't going to be afraid to get into. Both from the front and back the look is appealing. You can easily fit five adults comfortably, or fold down the arm rest / cupholder in the back for four. The rear seat has car-seat tie downs that are easily accessible and the seat itself folds down if you need to load a large object into the trunk. I've had it since '05 and have had surprisingly little repairs other than scheduled maintenance. The cars a blast to drive, I have the manual transmission - If you want to give that Mustang next to you on the ramp a surprise this car fits the bill, Tight as a drum on cornering and a stiff suspension will have your passengers grabbing for the handle and looking at you li... Story
I drove over 5000 miles across the country in this car and loved every minute of it. The only thing I regret is taking a whole day to visit the worlds largest ball of Twine in Cawker City Kansas. I recommend any other site on the planet.
Pros
Great acceleration - don't be shy about 6k rpms if you need a quick rocket boost. Tight cornering and good handling. The engine is clean and well sealed. Nice touch with cruise control and radio functions built into the steering wheel. Seats are comfortable and will do nicely for long hauls.
Cons
This car is light and not spectacular in snow, No matter what tires you put on you'd better have a couple bags of kitty litter in the trunk. The front map light buttons are prone to fail even if you don't use them often. What happens is they tend to short and turn the lights on when owner is asleep thereby draining the battery. I just took the lights out as I never used this feature anyway. One thing that initially bugged me is the sun roof automatically closes when you turn off the engine - which is a good safety - but I later learned there is a button combo that keeps it open.

I've been really happy with my Mazda 6. It has 6 cylinders and feels sporty while staying relatively compact. It's a manual transmission and gets good gas mileage for the way I drive it. I would estimate I get 25 mpg, and I do mostly "city driving", not on the highway. It's roomy and has an attractive styling and interior. The trunk has enough space for us to pack up our gear for 4 people to go camping for the weekend. We've only had to service it once when the power steering went out, the dealership performed the service for free, gave us a free oil change and car wash. It's not a sport package model, but I've always felt for an economy car it had a sport suspension feel and handles well in corners. I've always felt safe - it has 4 door side airbags in addition to the driver a... (more)
Story
We ended up buying my wife the same car in the same color, and our neighbors also have 3's or 6's, so most of the cars parked on the street are recent Mazdas. It looks like a dealership.
Pros
My favorite things about my Mazda 6 are that for an economy car, it has a sporty feel and is fun to drive. I like the stereo and cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. It also has a mini stereo input in the center console which I use all the time to listen to music from my phone. It also has an attractive dash when lit up at night.
Cons
I had to get it serviced for a power steering loss, but that was covered by the dealership. Other than that I've had no negative experiences with the car.

I believe that the salesman we worked with was very knowledgeable, and wanted to take care of us. He understood our personal space, and even though he was older, he offered a younger co worker to work with us if we would feel more comfortable.
