I wasn't sure if I had wanted the Altima but leaned towards it heavily. When I first got into the car, I noticed how comfortable the seats were. It drove smooth, cornered nicely, and just felt all together right for as much as I commute. I had a little buyer's remorse paying as much as I did for a car that was about a year old. However six months down the road, I have none. It has been reliable, comfortable, and safe. I also get 40 miles to the gallon and 700 miles to the tank. 700 miles for $45.00, I'll take it.
Story
I took the family for a daytrip to Seattle, WA, and didn't even use a half tank of gas.
Pros
It is a very comfortable car, as I commute an hour each way. I went with the S model, which is one up from the base model. I love how I can sync my phone with Pandora and other apps. The speakers are great, and the interior is low maintenance and has stayed looking great, even with children. It's the best thing I have ever driven, and I have driven a lot of different cars. It corners smooth, the four-cylinder engine surprisingly has a good amount of get up and go, and the four-wheel disc breaks really stop you when you need to suddenly stop. I don't take advantage of most of the feat... (more)
Cons
The only con I can think of is the S model doesn't come with navigation, but the way the Bluetooth from my phone connects with the car, it's not something I think I would have used more than a handful of times.

I have a middle of the line trim Nissan Altima that I purchased before driving across the country to start graduate school. It has been a solid car so far other than an issue with the air conditioning that started the same week the 3 year warranty expired. The quality is great for a car in this price range. It has performed very well, is great to drive, and serves my needs well.
Story
I was coming back from a shopping trip that required travel through a mountain pass. I did not realize it was supposed to snow that day and as I was leaving to head home it started coming down heavy. My little car made it slowly up the mountain with just all weather tires and passed many others pulled over. I was so relieved to get home and so happy my car had pulled through for me!
Pros
I love that this vehicle gets great gas mileage and has generally been low maintenance. It drives well in many conditions with the dealership provided tires, including getting me up some steep hills during a sudden snowstorm. The cruise control is quiet and consistent even with many changes in altitude. I enjoy that it connects to my phone via Bluetooth for calls and I am able to use an auxiliary jack to listen to music from my devices. It also has a lot more legroom than you would think from just looking at the car from the outside. It is very comfortable to travel in on long trips.
Cons
I have been frustrated that Nissan has not been helpful about replacing the air conditioning compressor that failed a week out of warranty. I wish that the Bluetooth phone connection also allowed me to listen to music via Bluetooth so I wouldn't have to keep purchasing auxiliary cables when they break.
