The 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada, what can I say. As far as looks and appeal Oldsmobile knocked it out of the park in it's final years of producing this SUV. Stylish exterior which even today (2015) people think it is no more than a few years old. The interior, plush leather with automatics seats (heated) automatic mirrors, lumbar support and sunroof. A powerful BOSE 6 CD changer stereo system. Unfortunately, when I bought this vehicle at 120,000 miles on the Odom. It became apparent I may have made a serious mistake purchasing this vehicle.
Story
Ok I thought this was more funny than fun. My kids would probably beg to differ. While driving them to school in the dead of winter the Air Ride System failed four mile from their school. We had just had a bad storm of ice and sleet the day before and the plows couldn't scrape most of the frozen ice from the roads. The body of the vehicle laid down on the frame and it was like driving a 5000 l... (more)
Pros
Like I said previously, the Bravada was years ahead of everyone else in 2002 when it came to looks inside and out. At approx. 32,000 Purchase price it was worth it when it came to all of the bells and whistles. The engine, a 4.2 L inline six had enough power to me, more than most similar vehicles of the day. The ride was superior with rear air ride suspension which I was able to enjoy for a short while.
Cons
So here we go, cons. Where do I start? At 120000 thousand miles on the odometer the vehicle still looked really nice to me, whoever owned it took very good care of it. Unfortunately as they say, "you can't judge a book by it's cover." After driving this vehicle for a month or so for no more than a thousand miles, the encoder motor which supplies power to the transfer case which in turn engages the AWL ( all wheel drive) went bad. No biggy, stuff happens all the time when you buy a used vehicle, $400 repair, acceptable. Then the Air Ride system went bad a couple months later, there goes ano... (more)

Worse vehicle I have ever owned. Fuel mileage is bad, probably 14 miles per gallon. Air ride system failed and cost 2000 dollars to replace. Encoder motor failed twice in six years and cost over 800 dollars. I have had to completely rebuild the entire suspension system in this vehicle, it was almost as if after I repaired or replaced one thing another would fail. I spent more time underneath that vehicle than I driving it seemed. I still have the vehicle only because I would not be able to sleep at night knowing someone else would have to go through what I did. To this day there are still problems with the drive train but it's to expensive to fix so I just parked it. Like I said, worst vehicle I have ever owned and I have owned many vehicles that I paid considerably less for and had f... (more)

I really like this vehicle. The Bravada is a gas hog, but it really does work will for it's intended purposes. Lots of room in the back, and really good in the snow. The leather and heated seats, are a very nice touch. The moon roof is great for in the summer time as well.
Story
The feeling of purchasing and hauling my first arcade cabinet, in this SUV. It was wonderful getting the Galaga home, and playing a few games on it.
Pros
The car has good power. Not a big top speed, but this SUV is not designed for that. This car comes with a towing package, and has an engine and transmission designed for that. The car has a lot of room in the back, especially once the seats are down, to haul a lot of stuff. I have hauled arcade machines in this before, without an issue. This car drives well in the snow, a must in PA. The car has automatic 4 wheel drive, which really helps out in the winter time. The ABS on this car is great, and works will with towing.
Cons
The car is a gas hog. It also does not take corners well. I did not buy this car for that purpose though. I bought the car for towing and hauling arcade machines.
