2004 Saturn Ion - 0
It's a fantastic car. I have the suicide door model, and everyone seems to be a fan of the doors. Great gas mileage (I suppose because it's standard transmission), and it gets the job done. I'd need a larger car if I had a large family, but I do not. Breaks are fine, seats are comfortable enough. Currently I need to get new tires, because mine are quite bald. It's not in the shop too often. Acceleration is OK, but I'm not a street racer so I don't need anything crazy. I feel in control when I'm driving it. On long car trips, the cruise control is a great feature to use. Radio works well, as does the CD player. The dashboard says "Coolant", and I have no idea what that means, but the AC works fine. Hopefully when I get it inspected at the end of this month, I'll know everything that is ... (more)
Story
I got this for free! Parents gave it to me. Sure, I have to pay insurance, etc., but I got it for free. That's the best part about it, really!
Pros
-The car looks like a sports car.
-Cruise control is great
-Enough storage space for everything besides furniture & larger items
-Great gas mileage
-Standard transmission - that's always a plus
Cons
-Wish it was larger.
-This isn't a feature of the CAR itself, but I wish the tires didn't get old as fast
-It takes longer than I'd like it to in order to heat up in the winter. Although, I do live in a very cold place.
2003 Saturn Ion - Handles great, highly dependable!
I've had my Saturn Ion for about a year, most of that in NYC and Long Island. If you live in NYC, you want this car. It parallel parks like a dream, can wind its way through a maze of double parked delivery trucks, giant potholes, stupid pedestrians, and suicidal bicycle delivery guys with the precision of a car commercial dodging traffic cones. My passengers generally hang on for dear life and tell me I drive like a crazy person, but you have to be crazy to drive here and this car can handle that!
Story
Going 60+ on the LIE in the right-hand lane when the next car up did something dangerously stupid in the middle lane. Car behind him (next to me) swerved into my lane to avoid hitting the idiot. I was able to parallel his swerve, pop up onto the shoulder, accelerate to get past him and the jackass, and come back down on the road before I had time to blink. Never once felt like I was or was goi... (more)
Pros
It has the best handling and steering of any car I've ever own, is comfortable to drive (as a short person), has great trunk space for a small car (moved cross-country in this car), and is the exact width of the standard neighborhood houses for street parking between driveways in Queens. I cannot emphasize that last one enough.
Cons
Shocks seem almost non-existent. Needs a long time to warm up on cold mornings. Doesn't have great acceleration. Automatic transmission occasionally tetchy. Windows don't fold in. Interior not aging well.

2008 Saturn Astra - Bob Johnson Chevrolet Rochester
I had a neighbor that worked there, and because I knew him I did not feel pressured to buy.
2014 Saturn L-Series - Bob Johnson Chevrolet Rochester
They had a good deal. I got nice trade-in for my old car. The service was also great.
