This car is the best car I have ever driven. I have had zero major issues with the engine of this car. The gas mileage is okay and I wish there was a sunroof in mine, but overall it is a really reliable and safe car. I would repurchase a newer model if I could afford to. Subaru is a really reliable brand.

I originally got my 2005 Subaru Forester because I needed a bigger car. I had just joined a punk rock band and needed to carry a big amplifier and two large speaker cabinets with me when I went to shows. This car would have to be big enough to easily store this equipment, plus my own guitar equipment, plus whatever other equipment my band members needed me to carry. And it would need to do so over distances of up to 500 miles. And the car would have to be relatively fuel efficient to fit the budget of a starving musician. After a lot of looking around, the (then new) Subary 2005 Forester kept coming up as the best car. I'll be honest, this car isn't something that really jumped out at me as being an amazing car. It's boxy, it doesn't have much pickup, and it's about as exciting as a loaf of bread. The first time I drove it I thought to myself "Why am I driving this boring old person car?" It was only because I needed a car immediately that caused me to actually buy it. And it wasn't very long until I realized that sometimes reliable is far more appealing than exciting. The only reason I don't currently drive the car is that the engine died - after 14 years of hard driving. I hope to get the engine replaced and the car back on the road soon!
