I had never driven an all-wheel drive vehicle before I bought my Subaru. Right away, I noticed the handling was much easier than two-wheel drive vehicles. I could pass 18 wheeler trucks on the highway without feeling as if I were being blown all over the road. The gas mileage was comparable to other sedans I had driven, despite the all-wheel drive factor. The car felt more substantial than many other cars. I felt more safe in the Subaru.
Story
I lived in Richmond, VA, and commuted to Norfolk, VA for classes. This was approximately two hours of driving each day. My Subaru handled the commute with ease.
Pros
The car was very safe. The brakes have always stopped quickly. There are dual airbags, and Subarus do well in crash-test ratings. I love the way the all-wheel drive means the car "hugs" the road. The heat and air conditioning work quickly to warm or cool the car. The headlights automatically turn off with the engine, so there is no way to accidentally leave them on and drain the battery. I only had to do routine maintenance until the car reached 150,000 miles.
Cons
After 150,000 miles, the car has needed a lot of maintenance. I replaced the CV boots, oxygen sensors, something that caused a dead engine cylinder, rack and pinion steering, and an alternator within a few months. If one tire wears out, more than likely all tires will need to be replaced. If one tire's tread is more or less thick, it can create problems for the transmission. I hear Subaru remedied this problem in later model cars.

My Subaru Legacy is the wagon model. When you get into the driver's seat, you can immediately feel the quality. It's very fun to drive, and I feel safe in all weather situations with All Wheel Drive. I like that it seems less rugged than the Subaru Outback but it is still has the room of a wagon. I think the interior is very stylish and all the compartments around the dashboard are useful. The car is so spacious. I don't have children, but I have dogs and we love to throw the back seat down and take the dogs on trips. So far, I have had limited maintenance costs - the most expensive being new tires. The acceleration is very peppy and it handles much better than any other vehicle I have driven. Braking is smooth and quick. I have no blind spots. I trust the Subaru brand very much and... (more)
Story
Any fun road trips with my dogs top my favorite stories about this vehicle. I open the back hatch and they hop in. They stick their heads out the back seat windows and create nose art all along the back. We get to the park, river, or wherever else we go, and they hop out. This vehicle definitely makes me relate to the Subaru commercials about loving a Subaru. It's become a huge part of my fami... (more)
Pros
This car is so much fun to drive. It handles so well, I feel safe on any road. There is an optional manual gear shift that makes driving in the snow a breeze. Other features I love are the sunroof, all power controls, remote unlock, extra compartments for anything you need to store.
Cons
The number one and possibly only issue I have with my Subaru Legacy wagon is the interior is stylish but does not hold up well. My dog was able to scratch a huge dent into the middle console the day I bought it. The upholstery tears easily.

The staff was friendly, and willing to work with a low down payment. They tried their hardest without being pushy. In particular, my salesman was up front with me regarding the history of the car. The salesman was also willing to let me drive whatever I wanted without rushing me towards a purchase. The financial manager was willing to argue my case to multiple banks in an effort to get the best rates.

As soon as my husband and I walked onto the lot, we felt very comfortable and at ease. No one ran up to us to start hammering us with questions. After we had looked around for a few minutes, a salesman approached us to answer our questions. We never felt pushed or pressured into anything. The salesman didn't even suggest a test drive until we said we wanted one. After we decided on which car, he explained the whole purchasing process and fought to get us the best interest rate he could. I highly recommend Ultimate Subaru.
