2006 Toyota RAV4 - The Toyota Rav-4 is a great all-around vehicle.

My Rav-4 is great all-around vehicle. It has a smooth ride like a car. As a small SUV, it sits a little higher than a car, so you can see over them and further ahead into traffic. In the back, you can put quite a bit of 'stuff.' It has over 90,000 miles and has not needed major repairs. It has decent power when merging onto the freeway or passing cars. I like that it has a full-size spare tire. The blind spots are minimal. Probably my favorite feature is the side opening rear door. It opens out, not up. It is so very easy to open and close. I wish the new Rav-4s still had this feature! My only complaints are the gas mileage and it burns a lot of motor oil.
Story
It has been used twice to take my mother and I on vacation to Arizona. It's been to Phoenix and to Sedona.
Pros
My favorite features are the side opening rear door, the full-size spare tire, and the height of the vehicle and the durability (not yet needing major repairs, knock on wood).
Cons
My complaints are the so-so gas mileage and that it burns a lot of motor oil. I mostly drive on city streets, and the mpg is around 19-20. I also have to top off the oil between oil changes. My mechanic tells me it's a characteristic of this vehicle.

We had been in an accident, which demolished our vehicle. In need of a vehicle relatively quickly that would be sufficient for our needs, we opted on a 2006 Toyota RAV4 Sport. With a six-cylinder EFI engine & automatic transmission, it came well equipped for the price. Electric windows and doors, including a moon roof. The dash is laid out well, where all the gauges are easily read. With four doors and a hatchback, the SUV has plenty of room to stretch out. This vehicle has plenty of pick up and is easy on fuel for a Sport model. The all-wheel drive comes in handy in adverse weather. The aspects we didn't care for were that maintenance can be at times very expensive, and repairs do not last as long as one would think. After almost a decade of ownership, many things failed nearly simult... (more)
Story
We took the vehicle to a resort town in Northern California for a holiday weekend up the coast.
Pros
All-wheel drive. Six-cylinder engine. Automatic transmission. Power windows. Power doors. Four doors. Hatchback. Fuel efficiency. Roomy.
Cons
Maintenance. Faulty sensors. Expensive parts. Poor quality parts. Major labor costs.

The dealers knew what I was looking for. They asked me what kind of car I wanted and I told them the characteristics I was looking for. After telling them this, they went ahead and introduced me to cars that I was definitely looking for. Their customer service is really good and they never leave you hanging in confusion.

The employees were very friendly and helpful. They answered all my questions. Whenever I have to get my car serviced, they provide a nice waiting area complete with internet, food, coffee, and a small cafe. These amenities and the ease of communication with the employees make it easy to keep my car in good shape.
