I generally think this is a good car. This is my second car and it is much better than the first. The reason why I like this car is because it gets the job done. I like to go on lots of road trips so the bed of the truck is nice to help. Also, I like that there are just two seats in the front because this means that I do not have to drive everyone every where. Also, because it is a small truck, it gets better gas mirage than most bigger trucks. I also feel safe in this truck and like that I am a bit off the ground rather than when I am driving a car.
Story
Hm, some fun memories about this vehicle. Well, this is funny, and maybe slightly irrelevant, but also maybe helpful. One time I was letting my father use this truck. I was just about to get into the truck when he accidentally let go of the break. He pulled up just a little bit, and then again pressed his foot again on the break so the truck was stopped. However, what he didn't know what that ... (more)
Pros
There are many great things about this truck. One, is the initial price of the truck. I really did not pay much at all and got the truck in new condition, so no miles on it. Since then I have been treating this truck nicely and maintaining it well. With good maintenance, this truck has lasted me so long! I rarely have to get it fixed and when I do, parts are really not expensive nor does it take a long time to fix. This is because it is Toyota and Toyota parts are way cheaper than most cars, for instance, way cheaper than a BMW. Also, since this truck is a Toyota, parts do not always s hav... (more)
Cons
Although this truck is most always great, there are some things that I wish were different. For instance, there is not power steering, there is not automatic windows, and no automatic door locks. That's right, I have to manually roll down the window and manually lock and unlock my doors which brings me to my next point. I can not have a car remote to lock, unlock, and set an alarm to the truck. In my area there is sort of a lot of theft that can go on around the holidays so it would be nice to have this option (although I am not sure if it would help much). Another thing that I wish the tr... (more)

It's a great workhorse truck in 4-cylinder trim. Don't expect car-like fuel economy of 30mpg. Don't expect sporty handling. Expect a long rusty life with minimal maintenance. Mine is used for hauling and camping trips in summer and as a winter all-around vehicle. Non salted-road seasons see me using more fuel efficient sports cars for typical commutes.
Pros
It's dependable sturdy and can handle rough dirt surfaces at high speeds. It's comfortable and really tough, it can take a beating. I love it. the rear seats is surprisingly roomy. Versatile, reliable, and seems to stand punishment. It's a pickup, so it functions well as a stripped down workhorse, and I'm glad Toyota didn't get carried away with the luxury & entertainment options that are seen on newer vehicles. The extra cab seats are comfortable on the longer trips with normal gas stops to refresh & stretch.
Cons
Typical Toyota rust started on door seams after 5 years, and I'll be fighting this for the next decade. Fuel mileage certainly isn't what the older Toyota 2WD trucks with the 22-RE engine were. I can get 23mpg highway if I keep to back roads that are 55mph, but on the interstate, 19-20mpg is about it. Winter is worse for mileage as expected. City driving nets around 17mpg, unless you do small cold-start only commutes where it can drop to 13mpg.

The salesman is great. He is a Vietnamese salesman. When I bought this car, I did not have enough credit to purchase it under my name, so he asked his boss if I could pay a portion of it by cash but still use my name for my car. He did it.

I went to check this dealership out since my uncle recommended that I go. He has bought several cars from them. I would say the dealership is one of the biggest around the El Monte area. The environment is great. Everyone greets you nicely. I did end up buying a Toyota Camry for $18,000.
