2007 Toyota Yaris - The Hardy Yaris
I have put a ridiculous number of miles on this vehicle, having driven it all over the country in the last eight years, and yet my car is still working (mostly). It gets really good gas mileage, which is important when you are a poor student. Unfortunately, in the last five years it's been having problem after problem. These have all been fixable without completely draining my bank account, but there's always something new going wrong. The car is always able to fit into the tiniest parking spots and the tightest squeezes; I've moved myself across the country by packing everything I own in the tiny Yaris, and it actually fits a surprising amount of stuff inside. The car is comfortable (if you're not extremely tall) and actually has weirdly good speakers and bass for listening to music. ... (more)
Story
Driving the Yaris up mountains is like driving a semi truck up the mountain - it goes about 15 mph and fights with you the whole way. You look hilarious in the truck lane between the various semis just barely cruising. Going down the mountain is pretty fun, though.
Pros
I love the gas mileage it gets. It has pretty nice speakers for listening to music. I appreciate the port that hooks to my iPhone so I can have hands free calling. I like the color my car came in, which makes it seem kind of distinctive. I generally like the look of Yaris' and Prius', so it fits my style. It's been able to last me for years and for tens of thousands of miles.
Cons
Constant battle, each summer, with the air conditioner. It leaks every summer into the passenger side's leg area. You have to clean out the a/c hose with a wire hanger to get all the random gunk build up out. I also had to tear out the padding below the passenger seat because it got moldy from all the water leakage. Other problems include all the recalls, and a very dangerous accelerator problem which makes me have to fight with the brakes to stop the car at stoplights. Holes in the muffler make the car sound pretty loud, but I can't get it fixed because it would require removing and repla... (more)
2012 Toyota Yaris - Simple, economical, nice
Overall, my vehicle is very simple and easy to use. It's a basic model. I like that it gets really good gas mileage. I don't like that it doesn't have some features, and I wish it did, such as like keypad entry or keyless start button. It is an older model where that was more of a luxury. Newer cars have that even on basic models. I haven't had any mechanical issues, although I've had to replace multiple tires, so I don't know if that's necessarily a car thing or just my luck thing. It's a black car, but it's a hard color to fix if there are scratches. I've had to pay extra for that, but overall, I like the car.
Story
I named my car Arya after Arya Stark from Game of Thrones. I rode in the car with my friend, and I told her the name of the car. She told me it was very fitting and like I felt really happy.
Pros
Overall, the best feature of this car, hands-down, is the great gas mileage I like the color. It's black. I like black cars. I like that it is so small and easy to park. I like that it's a perfect size for what I needed it to be, and it has a very nice size trunk.
Cons
It is a basic model. The bumpers are plastic so I've been rear-ended, and I've been hit on the front. It causes the whole entire bumper to have to be replaced, which is kind of a pain. I have black cloth seats, which are kind of a pain with my dog. It gets a lot of dog hair, so it's hard to clean sometimes.

Madison, WI Dealer Ratings & Reviews

2011 Toyota Yaris - Smart Motors Toyota Scion Madison
The dealership had a large selection of new Toyota and Scion vehicles. They gave me a decent price on my old car as a trade-in, and were very helpful in finding me a new car. I was able to take several vehicles on a test drive, including some with manual transmissions. Purchasing the vehicle was easy and hassle free, and I was able to drive my new car home on the same day.
