I have the manual hatchback version of the Toyota Yaris. I have driven it since the summer of 2008 (approximately 115,000 miles so far). I've taken it for 10+ long trips (averaging 800 miles each direction) and it has been a work horse.
Story
It's very zippy with a small turning radius. Ideal for city driving.
Pros
The car is very fuel efficient. It averages 35-40 highway miles and 28-32 in the city. I have had to replace the battery 3 times since I've owned (2 of the replacements were my fault). This is the only non-routine maintenance I have had to perform since owning it. I have the manual transmission and have not had to replace the clutch since I've owned it. Mechanically, the car is very sound and well built.
Cons
The car is very uncomfortable for long trips. There is very little lumbar support in the driver's seat and the weird shape of the seat makes it very bad on your back for long periods of time. Not very family-friendly. We drove the car with two kids and two car seats for a few months before having to buy a larger vehicle. The hatchback has two doors making it difficult to reach the back seat. Most of the interior feels very cheap and easy to break. The sun has warped my dashboard, so it rubs on the windshield making irritating noises now.

2007 Toyota Yaris - This is a great small reliable gas efficient vehicle.

This car is very reliable, I have a 4-door manual transmission type and its very easy to drive, I'm a big guy and I was surprised at how roomy this car is for the looks of it on the outside. The trunk is large too. I love how its so good on gas though, I've calculated anywhere from 32-38 mpg.

Pros
Great on gas!!! Large roomy interior, easy to drive even for big guys. The trunk is large too. Its easy to do maintenance on this car. I change the oil by myself without problems. It runs very quite, even when you're outside and someone starts the engine, you can barely hear it. It rides smooth too. The Yaris has that unique stylish look but I like it.
Cons
I don't have too many cons about this car. One thing that took some getting used to is the center cluster board where the Speedo and tach are located. But after a while I have to say I like it like that so its just a CON initially. Also on windy days the car shakes but that's because its so light. The cars front has a lot of plastic. We were involved in a front end very slow speed crash (under 10mph) and it destroyed the front. It was in the shop for a while.

The Cavenders run a fairly honest, fairly customer-oriented business and tend to hire people who conform to that mold. I don't know that I would say they're "the best," but they certainly run a good business.

The salesmen at the dealership were very friendly and helpful. I wanted to buy a new car, but they had a used car of the same type with very low mileage, which ended up saving me a lot of money. Since my purchase they have continued to be helpful and efficient every time I bring my car in for maintenance.
