2006 Volkswagen Passat - near-luxury furnishings and design with a maintenance price

This Volkswagen Passat, from 2006, is a mid sized German sedan that has relatively pristine design and quality. The feel of the interior, paint, body etc is on par with more expensive luxury level vehicles particularly German ones. The drive feel is not too sporty as far as handling goes, but the turbo 4 cylinder engine is very powerful. This era of Passat was among the last that were made to outdo other midsize mainstream cars like Accord, or Camry and the car costs a bit more to buy and own. The newer Passat from say, 2012, were downgraded to be on par with other mainstream midsize cars, and the price was reduced as well, whilst the more upscale Volkswagen CC took the place of what former "Passat" enthusiasts seek.
Pros
As well built and solid, heavy as sister brand Audi, and other German luxury brands, but less expensive. Decent gas mileage, very good looking with high quality paint, body and interior. Much "sexier" than a Camry.
Cons
It is expensive to maintain. One might not pay the luxury price for the purchase of a Passat, but maintenance does come close to luxury level.

After driving a Honda Pilot for 10.5 years, I was ready to go back to driving a Volkswagen again. The very first thing I was happy to have was automatic locks. I was also happy to be back in a car that had steel reinforcements in the back and in each passenger door. My car gets up to 38 MPG on the highway, compared to the 22 MPG I got in my Pilot.
Story
I can't really think of anything fun or memorable about using this car around my location. I do remember driving it from Sacramento, CA to Boise, ID less than a month after I bought it and I felt like a million bucks.
Pros
I got a premium color, blue, which is exactly what I wanted. Gray leather was not originally offered as an option for that particular model, but the dealer was somehow able to find a Passat with my desired interior and exterior colors. My husband made sure I got premium LED headlights and they shine brightly at night. I love that Apple Car Play is available as an option and I can use my phone hands-free with the integrated Bluetooth. Having Sirius XM integration is another favorite feature of mine.
Cons
The only negative thing I have to say isn't necessarily about the car, but about the cost for maintenance. They recommend service every 10,000 miles and it costs between $150-$400 each time.

When I first walked in, they were attentive and respectful. The dealer also tried to find the right car for me and my price range. They allowed me to test drive many different models to make sure I am happy with what I like. The dealer did not pressure me into purchasing the car the same day and allowed me sufficient time to think it over. When i purchased the car, they threw in some accessories for free
