2009 Chevrolet Cobalt - Cute, but cheaply built.
I had been driving a compact SUV and decided I wanted something smaller and sportier. My first impression of the Cobalt LT was that it was very cute. I love the sloped back end and the spoiler on the trunk. It was used but only had 95,000 miles on it, which wasn't bad for a 4 year old car. Five years later I am still driving it, but I have had one recall for the ignition component, and more recently it developed a leak in the fuel line that was very costly to repair, not to mention very dangerous to drive around with until I was able to fix it. My biggest contention though is that it's just very "cheaply" made as far as the interior (dash components, center console etc.). I am also very disappointed with the trunk access. The trunk itself is a pretty good size for such a small car, how... (more)
Story
I have several times almost gotten into someone else's car, because apparently many people in my area drive white Cobalt LTs.
Pros
Small and easy to maneuver. Attractive body design. Good gas mileage.
Cons
Ignition recall, leaking gas lines, rust, cheap feeling components.
2005 Chevrolet Cobalt - A sentimental ride.
This car was my first car I owned. It has been very special to me in the time that I have owned it. The reason why it is so important to me is that the money from my late mother's settlement paid for the car. So to me it is like a last gift from my mother. Ever since I first drove it I have been really happy in it. The seats are very comfortable and the gas mileage is a nice feature.
Story
I remember I was driving to meet a friend and I was having a lot of trouble find his house. I knew it was on the street I was on but I couldn't find his. As I was driving up his road for about the 7th time my friend had seen me and decided it was a good idea to stand in the street right where my driver side blind spot was. I didn't hit him but it scared me when he just kind of popped up next t... (more)
Pros
I've always liked the outside of the car looks. I'm a sucker for a nice and sleek coupe. Some people today would consider manual windows and locks cons, but to me it is just less things that can expensively go wrong. The typical gas mileage is about 27 mpg. That meets my needs very well. It's versatile as well It can be used as a grocery getter or a cruising car.
Cons
A few of the cons are that its over 12 years old and is getting a little difficult to take care of. The back seat can get cramped quickly with three adults. My car has transmission issues and I've heard that is with all cobalt's, but I've only had one so I don't know for sure.
