I own a basic Cobalt model. I am not the first owner of the car, but it is still running today with quite a bit of maintenance. It is a nice compact car that is great on gas; however, it does not provide room for a large family.
Story
The car is great to take to the downtown area bars where parking is small and very limited. I could always and easily find parking.
Pros
The Cobalt is great on gas. I can fill my tank up twice a month to drive about 20 miles a day. It is great for a single person. It is very compact but not tiny where one would look odd. I can also fit my son's infant car seat in the back fairly easily. The heater heats up the car fairly quickly.
Cons
Unfortunately, I've had to replace several things on this car throughout the years. The air conditioner gave out and had to be replaced completely. Then, 2 years later the transmission also had to be worked on. The locking portion of the driver's door malfunctioned twice and also had to be replaced. The exterior paint and coat has started to peel tremendously. The car is also too small for more than 2 people of average size. The trunk is also difficult to carry a regular sized stroller and groceries. Interior cosmetic features have also broken like the top half of the locks.

2006 Chevrolet Cobalt - Good quality and price.

The car is a good quality for the price I paid. Apart from the costly A/C repair, the car has not given out. It has over 171,000 miles (100,000 of which were driven with the last three years). No major mechanical problems have been given. Great on gas. However, not the most luxurious of cars. Windows are manual. Interior is well kept.
Story
Car almost got stuck in the mud. However after about ten minutes, it was able to move forward. This happened 30 mins before an interview.
Pros
The car is four cylinders. It is very affordable on gas and requires little maintenance apart from regular oil changes. Tires are of good quality and stereo has not given any major electrical problems. Reclining seat is very comfortable and has not given may malfunctions (no broken handles). Finally, because it's manual, no electrical problems haven occurred.
Cons
The A/C gave out after a year of purchasing. Batter placement is awkward. It should be placed in the front. Like any other car, fuel economy is important. A higher mileage above 25 mpg would have been great. Also, for some reason, the car has started to leak some oil. At each oil change about a quart is lost. Stereo does not have a USB outlet nor AUX input.
